Re: rear projection

Considering that in both cases, the set will turn on but not stay on, indicates either a condition of overheating due to a failed fan or it could be a component going into thermal runaway in the power supply itself that is causing the fault.

This is not a safe area to probe around in since there are capacitors that may contain a charge for a fairly long time.

If the fan cannot be heard, this is probably a cheap repair, otherwise, get an estimate first.

Phillips 50P8341 will stay on about 15 mins then shuts off then the power button flashes twice, pauses then flashes twice again...

Seems like it is overheating. Try cooling it down by using a fan to blow air into it (temporary fix). Make sure the TV is well ventilated and heat can escape (permanent solution).

Philips model projection

hello dm beatty, First i must ask if you have anything placed on top of the tv? second what i would suggest is for a professional repairman to come and fix it. There are proceedures which you may do it yourself but if you were to mess up it would cost you a new tv. If you would like more assistance to do it yourself place post again and i will be happy to assist.
Please post what you do and how you did it. I look forward to your posts.

Phillips model 50p8341 titanium-finished 50-inch Red tint to picture

Your Red CRT may be on its way out. Try turning down the G2 screen control on the red CRT just a little. That should help for now. A new red tube wil be a reality in the future.
