If you haven't changed the original Hard Disk of your computer or never formatted the Disk, you can restore the machine to Original Factory settings by performing the following steps:

First plug in the Notebook to a power socket with your adapter.
Power on the Notebook and you will see the Acer splash screen.
Immediately press ALT and keep tapping F10 at the same time. It will take you to a screen where you will see "windows is loading files" or "starting acer recovery" it will ask you, how do you want to restore?" choose the option "restore to factory default" and click continue.
It will go through the restore process and within 15 - 20 minutes it should finish the process. Your Notebook will be back to factory default settings and once again you can get OOBE (Out of Box Experience).

Hope you find this solution helpful.

It could be 2 things.

1. You need to clean your lens.
2. Your lens is dead, and you would need to get it replaced.

How to Fix a Scratched CD

Clean the disc. Even if a CD isn’t actually scratched or scuffed, dust, oil, and other surface contaminants can prevent it from playing properly. Thus cleaning the disc should always be your first move. Ads by Google

  • Run warm water over the damaged disc to remove dust.
  • If there is stubborn dirt or grease on the disc, gently rub it with your finger while you are washing it, and use a gentle detergent or liquid soap (with the water) or rubbing alcohol (in place of water). Any time you rub or wipe a CD, you should do so by starting at or near the center of the disc and rubbing straight outward toward the edge to prevent further scratching.
  • Shake the water off and let the disc air-dry (do not dry it with a towel or cloth, and don't sun-dry it either).
  • 2Try to play the disc. Many times a good cleaning is all that is needed. If, however, problems persist after cleaning, try to play the disc in a different CD player. Some players handle scratches better than others; computer CD drives and car stereos tend to be the best.
  • 3Burn a new disc. If you can get the CD to work in one CD player - especially your computer’s - but not in others, try burning a new disc. The CD burner on your computer may be able to read the CD well enough to produce a perfect copy. You may wish to try this even if the CD doesn’t play correctly on the computer.
  • 4Locate the scratch. Actually repairing the disc will be easier if you can figure out where the offending scratch is. Visually inspect the CD’s playing surface for scratches or scuffs. Scratches that run perpendicular to the CD’s spiral - that is, those that run generally from the center to the rim - may

try to clean the disc with a clean cotton cloth or you can use a cleaning fluid for the disc then dry with a cotton cloth or a damp cloth then put it on the XBOX 360 if that does not work the disc is really damaged or check the disc if its a light scratch or permanent scratch mark

Cannot read disc advised to clean disc or restart the console - have done both but cannot get the game to start. the same message keeps popping up

check to see if the disc is heavily scratch or has a lot of finger prints. If it has finger prints wipe it down. If it has heavy scratches then buy a disc doctor to smooth out the disc. If it does not have either, check the graphic on the top of the disc to see if has a scratch b/c that is where the information is at.

Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.
  • Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.
  • Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays.

Check for a scratched or dirty Navi DVD disc. Clean or have the scratches polish out at your local game store. Video game stores usually have a disc repair machine that polishes out scratches.
Note: In some cases the Navi unit can cause rotational scratches on the DVD. If this is the case than the Navi unit will have to be replaced.

Game keeps freezing up, and says to clean disc but dosent help

Check the underside of your disc, it sounds like you've either got a dirty disc, or have a few really big and deep scratches. Use a light cleaning solution like those used for glasses, spray it on the disc and then wipe with a toilet paper roll. After that, use a lens cloth ( which you use to wipe glasses and sunglasses) and wipe the disc from the inside out (Start from the middle, then stroke straight outward till the end of the disc, repeat for all sides). This will remove dirt and hopefully will let you play again. If you've got scratches though you can try buffing them out with disc cleaners, however if the scratches are deep I'm afraid you can't do much except get replacement discs.

hello try cleaning disc and lense..if disc has scratches .ones that go straight across disc are not to bad but if they follow disc in a circle ,lens will follow scratch as it is reading.when cleaning disc use a cleaner as any thing else will scratch..also try another game to see if your lens is okay .they can fail for no reason.
