Why does Windows service pack 2 negate my Realtek sound card/system.

Your board may not support Service Pack 2, it takes a lot of specs to run. sp2 and sp3.

you need to identify your sound card manufacturer and download the driver from Internet .

I recently formatted my desktop PC with Windows XP Service Pack 2. Make is AOL Optimized Systemax and after that, sound drivers were missing. help.

First please dont rate this solutiuon as thanks for trying as it decreases my rating

Go to controll panel - souunds and audio devices and check its not muted
If its greyed out it means the drivers arent installed and youll need to give me the make of your sound card
