I have an Emachine ET1331g. How do I open the casing to reveal its inner contents?

The eMachines ET1331G desktop computer uses the eMachines NexGen 3 computer case.

Looking at the computer from the Front, the Left Side Panel removes.

Looking at the back you will be viewing the Right side.
There are two screws to remove, then the side panel is slid Back. (Towards the rear of the computer)

There is a raised protrusion in the middle of the Side Cover on the back. This is where your fingers go to pull back on the Side Panel.

There is one screw coming down from the top, on the edge of the Side Panel, and one screw coming up from the bottom.
(Philips head screws)
Remove them.

Slide the Side Panel back. It will only slide back so far, as there are tabs coming from the Side panel, into slots of the computer case.
Once it stops sliding back, take it straight out to the side. Lay the Side Panel aside.

Here is a photo detailing the back of the ET1331G from eMachines Support,

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/desktop/2009/emachines/et/ET1831/ET1831rv.shtml

The two screws on the Right side, as you are viewing the computer from the Rear, as shown here.

NOTE*

1) Computer UNPLUGGED from power

2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions BEFORE reaching inside the computer, and BEFORE handling hardware parts.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity.

Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the hardware components in a computer.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH the metal frame of the open computer case to relieve your body of Static.

Should you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to touch the metal frame again upon your return.

Where can i find the cmos battery on emachines 420 desktop?

The cmos battery is located on the motherboard, and is easy to see,
its a big flat watch battery.

Look around on the motherboard for it, and there is a little clip somewhere around it that you need to push back to release the battery.

You should touch and hold the frame of the computer with one hand while you remove the battery, if you don't have a anti-static strap.

1 MEMORY SLOT NOT WORKING IN EMACHINES 420

This would be quite unusual, but it could happen.
I assume you have moved the memory sticks around (to test it) and you have used memory you know is good.
I must also assume that you are using the correct kind/speed/size/configuration memory memory sticks.
If my assumptions are correct, you need a new motherboard. You can't fix it.

420 Modena engine swap

It's an amazing car, I've never heard anyone complain about its power- and during the summer, I am at the track with them all the time. I work with a couple of guys who race their 420 challenge cars, 420 spyders and modenas, and no compaints whatsoever.
What would you swap the engine with? lol There are basically no mods you can do to the car- or most Ferraris for that matter.

For the price of an engine swap, just get the tourque-filled 575.
