Re: startup password forgotten

Who told you that removing the battery can fix it???

it works in only old P2 or P3 computers.

new boards have CMOS JUMPER.

change the jumper and power on the PC it wont boot or start like it dont have any power but after 10 sec turn of and set the jumper back and start it.

the motherboard will have the quote CMOS next to jumper if it dont then use the manual.

Re: startup password forgotten

Did you remove all other power supplies from the computer, like the battery and AC adaptor. try this again, only leave the CMOS Battery out for 2-3 Minutes, with no other power supplies attached.

I've forgotten the password to my Thinkpad Type 2373. During the months it took me to get a new power cord. Is there a way around the startup password?

If you dont know the system password for your System, forgotten it, or its not accepting it again, then you might have to reset your CMOS.
Which means you will have to unscrew your system, remove all cables supplying power to the board, locate the CMOS battery and remove it for a few seconds, then replace it and screw your system back.
This will reset your system's CMOS back to its Factory default settings.
(If you cant unscrew your PC yourself, you can just get a good technician to do it for you instead.)
Hope it helps.

How to remove bios password in toshiba satellite A305-s6905 laptop? i tried removing the battery, but it didnt work... it asked me for a JO pin, which i was unable to find.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don’t have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
