Will not read blank disks

Hi,
I have a CDR 775 that I haven't used in a couple of months. Day before yesterday I wanted to make a copy of a CD but when I inserted the blank record disk into the left side, the player would not read the disk-at first, I thought the disk was defective but I tried several others and got the same No Disk'' message. It will read a recorded disk just fine but blanks it doesn't see the disk. I have had a couple of power failures recently but I am pretty sure the player was switched off. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. solrwind2001@yahoo.com. Thank you very much

Sincerely,

Mike Gaworski

IT could be youre using a different type of CD-R , MAKE sure CD PLAYER matches with the correct CD-R format eg. CD-R- CD-R+ , CD-RW , etc. thanks AJ

Displays 'data disk' when i try to record live audio or duplicate a CD

Hi,
it sounds to me like you are using a blank CDR/CDRW that you would use in a computer rather than a CDR Audio. The two types of discs are different and although you can use either in a PC to record on, on these "Home Burners", they will only record on the other type.
Try it .....

DVD CD-R drive does not recognize a blank CD on toshiba sattelite

Try this before you enter disk.
  1. setup software or files to transfer when prompted to enter CDR, then place in drive.
  2. Or open my computer, select cd drive right click select, format disk. When prompt comes up for disk insert CDR.
Some systems have trouble with other manufactured formatted disk.

Recording trouble

Hi again,

I understand. Must be a glitch somewhere. Anyways, I already posted possible solutions here your original posting/problem. They were:
1. Power on the Philips FW-R7, leave the left tray empty and closed. Open the tray and put in a recorded CD (not a CDR but a regular CD from your music collection), close the right tray. Wait a couple of seconds as the FW-R7 reads the CD. Now open the tray, remove the music CD and insert your CDR. The FW-R7 should read the CDR without the error message and record to the CDR from any source. Let me know if this works for you;
2. laser cleaning or realignment (would need a service center);
3. try using lower then 40X blank CDs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Cdr s1000 help

Hi Rick

The unit has stopped reading discs. I suggest taking the lid off and cleaning the laser lens with a cotton bud with a little Windex , then give it a gentle polish to be sure no residue smearing is left. If that does not fix it, check to see what actually happens when you load a disc. Does the transport fully engage and clamp the disc correct into the chucking assembly. Let me know how you got on:)

CDR shows No Disc

Have you tried to use a optical disk cleaner? it will remove dirt from the optical eye and is the first thing I would try. Since it won't read any disks then the optical eye may be dirty you can buy at Radio Shack, Staples, Office supply stores and Wall mart or Wallgreens Pharmacy you can order online at fry's or tiger direct.com hope this helps, if you need more help just post here.

Not reading blank cdr audio disks to record onto..

Will it read audio cd's? Sounds like you need a new laser unless you have access to a philips COMPair system to diagnose / realign it.
