Re: S630 lens out and wont turn on

Cameras belonging to the S Series really do have a battery type option that needs to be set up first for proper power connection.

Recommended batteries are just:
- Alkaline (Non-rechargeable)
- Nickel-metal Hydride (Rechargeable)

Just the proper battery type by:

- Pressing MENU/OK button
- Scroll to the right until you are in SETUP 2
- Keep on scrolling down and look for battery type
- Press the right button to pick up on 2 options
like Alkaline and Ni-MH
- Press MENU/OK for changes to be saved
- Keep pressing MENU/OK to get out of the MENU

Once, it's done, camera needs to be turned off for a few seconds
so that settings made will be refreshed with the camera.

As you turn camera on, you're now ready to take many pictures.

ALKALINE (Non-rechargeable) batteries when set to the correct battery type will really take a maximum of 100 pictures.

For the Rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH), when those are fully charged, and the battery type is set to Ni-MH, it will be taking more than a hundred of course.

I hope this help you a lot.

I have a samsung s630 - when I try to take a photo the red green status light goes on, the red eye just keeps flashing but it wont take a photo, after a while it just goes back to standby type mode.

You could be having a power issue. Make sure your batteries are charged, and that both the battery contacts on the battery and inside the camera are clean. Make sure your charger is putting out the correct voltage. If it's a couple of years old or older, the battery could be failing. You can order another one on the net, just google it and you will find many.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

The camera doesn't turn on at all. Tried new duracells and freshly charged rechargables. The green light comes on whilst the switch is held down but nothing happens, nothing on the screen and the lens...

Hello. Begin by cleaning all of the terminals in the camera and all of the battery terminals with the eraser end of a common pencil. you may merely have a thin coating of corrosioin preventing you from getting a good connection and also a good recharge.
If that does not fix it, try these steps:
f your camera will not turn on, do the following:
  1. Remove all sources of power (batteries and AC Adapter) from the camera.
  2. Remove the Picture Card.
  3. Wait a full minute.
  4. Press the Power button twice.
  5. Connect the appropriate AC Adapter to the camera.

Camera turns on then off immediately

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.

Camera Stuck with lens out. Beeps

I dropped the camera on the table a couple of times, twisted the front of it. Suddenly the lens retracted into the camera, the beeping quit, and now I can take pictures again. The Samsung website is horrible.

Power wont stay on

Remove batteru for a minute and insert it again. There is a Battery Type setting in the Menu of your camera.

Do the following:
- Press Menu/ Ok button
- Go to Set Up 2 (icon looks like a wrench with number 2 on it)
- Scroll down to Battery Type

Under Battery Type, there are two options:
- Alkaline- if you are using non- rechargeable battery
- NiMH- if you are using rechargeable battery
