If you had a fire without any cause you can identify, you should discontinue use and buy a new microwave, unless you have a warranty in place that might help with replacement.

Thank you for that information, it is very helpful! , If the plastic interior is intact (no holes) First, please try the outlet that your microwave is plugged into and make sure it works.

A GFI (ground fault interrupter) outlet may have tripped. Those are the outlets generally found in kitchens and around sinks with the red reset buttons. If that works, read the last paragraph.

Sometimes items have metallic scanner labels and start sparking. If that is the case it is likely that Sharp's surge protector device shut the oven down. Unfortunately, if that did occur, the repair would require soldering, and the varistor and line fuse may need to be replaced. This can be a safety issue as it requires opening the oven and working on the circuit board. If you would like exact instructions, comment again and I will send them. Otherwise, you might find an appliance repair person that will do it at a reasonable price.

If there was nothing you could see that caused the fire,
it would suggest that there might be grease behind the wave guard
cover or the metal of the microwave body is exposed in that area. The cover can be removed and the area cleaned and the cover
replacement would be quite inexpensive. If you can get the microwave to go on, please comment and I will explain this procedure in detail.

Samsung lp SMH1713 microwave starts on its own, no light, or error, keypad functions but has no effect in stopping it. Is actually heating the chamber and will cook food that is inside

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

You either have a shorting membrane keypad or there is grease or moisture on the control board.

For free additional DIY help and details, feel free to e-mail me directly from my site. Remind me of your full model number and detailed symptoms.

Microwave exhaust fan doesn't really exhause any steam out. Model 721.80042700

The fan is for cooling the magnetron, nothing else. Steam remains in the cavity which is why the door should be left open after cooking to allow the steam to evaporate.

The microwave doesn't work at all. no display, light, anything

Plug a lamp in the wall receptical in place of the microwave oven, if okay! it means the main fuse in the oven has blown. There are a number of reasons why this happens, a bad fuse, door switch that has malfunctioned, "common" cracked high voltage diode, shorted capacitor, and an open magnetron. I suggest a professional.

When I press start on my sharp R-305K microwave nothing happing,

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

An SE error on a Samsung microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

Hood range microwave not heating up

We had one that did the same thing. my brother got so mad at it he put a wrench in it and turned it on. It didn't do anything to it. No power surge nothing. It acted as if I put a plate of food. Lighted up turned and even beeped when done. The wrench wasn't even hot. Now I do recommend this myself. But we went and got antoher one.
There is something in there that magnifys the power inside the mircowave and it sounds like its out.

Just replace the fuse Brother. No harm done. BUT, keep it away from your wife. Maybe she's thinking doubling the voltage would make it twice as fast. NOPE!!!

I have a recently purchased microwave since CHristmas. It was working wonderfully. Recently, I moved and plugged the microwave back in. THe light is on but will not program anything. I tried to plug into...

We have the same model. It's a piece of garbage. I loved the retro oval window and all and the size was perfect for our space. Then, the paint started chipping off the inside front, the timer started working intermittently, and the oven would just quit in the middle of the cooking cycle! Today, it finally just up and died. I unplugged and replugged it. No go. Finished cooking on stove top. My suggestion? Do like we're going to do and go buy another microwave...not another GE!

Good luck! Peacenikkie@charter.net
