Something is burning on the freezer side of samsung side by side freezer

At first I thought it was the ice maker so I shut it off. There is a hot spot running down the outside panel on the freezer side near the door. I don't know if there is a strip for the self defrost that may be over heating there. Do you have any answers or other complaints about this. The frig is only 3 or 4 years old.

It is normal to the fridge to be hot of the side edge panel it is to prevent moisture around gasket. cluster pipe of condeser routed around instead to install elec. heater. its to hot from the start of applying power but once it reach lower temp it will be warmed and normal.

I have a GE refrigerator model # GSH25KGMB WW. It is a side by side with an ice maker and water dispenser. We have had it for about 9 years now. The ice maker hasn't been working right for about 6 or 7...

you could have several problems.

Since you mentioned your ice maker not working right - first check to see if your ice maker is hot (be carefull it can burn you if it is hot) - it is possible for an ice maker to hang in the heat cycle of the cycle producing excessive heat in the freezer. If this is the case unplug the ice maker and/ or just replace it.

The refrigerator gets it cold from the freezer so if the freezer is not working right, you'll soon notice it in the refrigerator side.

You can also check to make sure the evaporator fan motor is running(in the freezer) and the condenser motor(at the compressor) as well.

Also check the back panel of the freezer for excessive frost build up.

Ice maker has ice motor doen't dump the ice

Your ice-maker may need to be "hard-reset". To do this, perform a manual-defrost by emptying out the freezer (and fridge) and shutting all power off to your unit for several hours (at least half a day unless you can be sure the temp in the freezer has fully reached ambient. Next, with freezer empty, restore power, make sure the "ice" setting is set to off, then set the forced power-freeze mode (you can refill the fridge, but leave the freezer empty for now. When the power-freeze completes (at least 2.5 hours) you can refill the freezer, set the "ice" mode to block/crushed (IE something other than off) and then hit the "black reset button" to restart the ice-maker. IF it still will not dump the cubes then the ice sensor/control board may have failed.

GE side x side When ice maker switch is on, freezer warms up

It sounds like the ice maker is stuck in the harvest ( dump ) mode , in the area of mold heater activation . This area , heats up the ice mold to unfreeze the cubes , and keeps rotating to dump the cubes . This heater , gets hot enough to actually burn you if you touch the mold .
I would remove the 2 screws holding the ice maker , unplug from the ice maker receptical , and replace the ice maker .

Just turn the refrigerator off inside on control panel. Then get a hair dryer and melt the ice away from the tube taking care not to get plastic too hot. Sea Breeze
