DCAC40A4 power converter failure

I removed the DCAC40A4 power converter from my Optiquest (ViewSonic) Q9 Model No. VS11201 LCD monitor. I was looking for a bad capacitor like so many mention but didn't find any bad. Then I noticed one of the two blue capacitors on the high voltage side is splitout on its side. I want to try and replace it but the info on the capacitor makes no sense
F .33J
PMD 250V
The period (.) in front of the 3 is actually positioned half way between the top and bottom of the 3. I have tried looking up this part but cannot find it anywhere. Can you help me identify this part?

Just measured mine and sure enough mine is shorted also! I had replaced the split capacitor but the monitor still didn't light up. Now going to replace the diode and see what happens. Looks like a R240 UPM.

This is too funny. I have a Norwood lcd monitor with the same problem. It has the same exact board. I started to troble shoot and it is pretty tough without schmatics but there is a diode (d301) that I am getting a dead short across.

I think this is a dipped .33 uf or 3300pf 250v cap. I thought tantalum, but none are available at 250v, so I think it is ceramic.

http://www.badcaps.net/ has a forum and a section for computer displays. There is a recent post on a viewsonic there.

digikey.com has low cost/order shipping fees, mouser.com has parts too.

When you open up one of these you are best off replacing ALL the capacitors.

NO POWER TO THE MONITOR

Hello,

This is usually caused by a failure of the power supply board because of capacitor failure. The board is easily repairable if you can do a little soldering. Here is a a link to a page that shows how to open the monitor, remove the power supply board and what needs to be replaced to repair the unit.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Viewsonic Optiquest Q19wb lcd Monitor goes blank after 2 secs. A couple of posts say replace the 1000uf 16v Cap My problem is i can't find them on the pcb (where are they?)

Look at the board where the AC power connector comes in that is the power supply board, there are more than one versions so it nay not have the same caps value.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Viewsonic/Optiquest monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Optiquest vs11201 monitor not above 640x480 resolution

You need to download the driver from DELL for your video card, my 3000 use video driver R79733.EXE.
You may have virus in your computer if you cannot update the drivers, sometime it is better to start from clean drive to help get rid of stuff that get installed into the computer.

My Monitor just stopped working. No pop, no fade, just dead. Oh, sorry it is an optiquest Q19wb says manufactured in 10/2006. bought 1.5 years ago at best buy. Worth trying to fix or dump it??

Optiquest is the Viewsonic low end products. You can take it apart and look inside.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, falied inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). When I power on my viewsonic monitor it flickers and the screen doesn't come on. It is a 19" Optiquest model number VS11201 that I have had for 2 years.

After 2 years, more likely the caps will be bad by now, worst case will be bad lamps, open it up and look inside for caps with bulging top first, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps/lamps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see so we can guide you further.

Monitor doesnt turn on

From your description, it sounds like the internal 5 Amp cartridge fuse is open. Will need to open the housing and inspect the fuse for failure. If located and failed, replace it and energize the monitor.

If the fuse fails immediately, you have a High Voltage power supply short and the monitor is scrap. It will cost more to replace the power supply/transformer than the monitor is worth.

Hope this provides some useful information.

Q19wb Monitor Replacement Part Numbers Needed

Look on eBay for "Optiquest Q19wb repair" or "Optiquest Q19wb power"

This is a common failure mode. You can either buy a set of capacitors and solder them in, or buy a replacement power supply board if you cannot solder.

One eBay seller notes the power board as an ILPI-025, which is common among the following models:

Power Board ILPI-025 For LG W1934S & Viewsonic VG1930WM & Optiquest Q19WB & Acer AL1916W Ab etc
