The only solution is to locate a repair shop and have them determine if there is anything that can be repaired. You don't say what manufacturer the lens is from so I cannot direct you to a shop or manufacturerer's site for repair information.

If the lens is not an expensive model, you may be better off replacing instead of repairing it. These lenses are complicated, rather delicate pieces of gear. There are many plastic parts inside and they really do not respond will to being dropped.

Sorry . . .

My view finder on my sony dslr A100 wont show what i am looking at though the view finder

The A100 uses sensors near where you place your eye. Make sure the rubber eye cup is clean, and does not block these sensors.
as a test put your finger on them while holding camera away from face ( located just below eye cup) then you will see the view finder light up. If not problem is the sensors.

Will not take picture

If the view finder is dim it is likely the iris of the lens is stuck and cannot acquire correct lighting. It need to be repaired by disassembling the lens.

My Nikon d3100 only takes black photo's when the lens finder is working but the lcd is showing a black screen but still has icons so what is wrong?

sounds very much like a CCD unit failure. This will require another trip back for repairs and now that it is out of warranty it is going to cost plenty.

Do we have option to take pics through LCD in Nikon D40X?

Hi. No you can't shoot by viewing the LCD, only by using the eye-level viewfinder. Some SLR cameras have "live-view", which lets you use either the eye-level finder or the LCD. It really isn't a very good method of shooting with an SLR, as you first have to lock the mirror up, compose your shot, then drop the mirror back down. Using the eye-level finder also blocks out the bright light that makes the LCD difficult to use in sunlight. Hope this helps answer your question.

Pentax espio 140

subaru662,
can you see the lens in the finder move when you zoom out? if not ,the finder lens is stuck.
if it does move when zooming, see if you have a diopter adjustment wheel or sliding knob near the front lens of the finder. if so adjust the lens to your eye.
