I have a hobart beta-mig 170 welder that I just put a new wire feed motor on but still won't work. The old motor I could tap on every now and then until it just quit. Any ideas?

Check the Switch on the handle. Many times the two wires from the trigger down to the Mig Unit break or get a bad connection

Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 & VS+SVRS Variable Speed Pump -leaks from housing

Which part of the housing?
The back against the motor or against the strainer basket housing?
Parts break down for the Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 here.
If leak is on the back of the housing - shaft seal. Or if the leak is on the front the replace O-Rings #10 or #23 in diagram.

My d300 hobart mixer is dripping oil when I am using it. How can I stop the oil from dripping out

It uses grease which breaks down over time. The transmission has to opened up and all of the old lube removed and replaced with fresh lube and the bottom seal replaced. Contact your local Hobart office. www.hobartservice.com to locate your local office.

I can't remove the impeller on a 4hp Speck pump...I've worked on several 3/4 to 3 hp pool pumps but this one is a first...also, how is the seal plate attached? maybe I'll figure that out if I'm able to...

If the shaft seal has been leaking for some time the stem on the impeller has likely spit due to corrosion on the motor shaft. This makes it near impossible to un screw the impeller. You can try and isolate the armature of the motor and use a channel lock on the impeller. The only other way to get it off is by breaking it. Use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer and break apart the area around the center of the impeller until you can pry off the everything but the stem. You'll have to remove the ceramic part of the seal and pick out as much of the stem as you can. Then you can get the wetend off the motor and remove the metal cup seal.

Water shooting out of the pump motor shaft?

The mechanical seel is bad. These seals normally last quit a few seasons, as long as they don't freeze or allowed to run dry. You will have to disasemble the motor from the pump, and then remove the impeller from the motor. Depending on model and brand, most of these parts are plastic and one must be very careful not to break. The seal could either be purchased from a pool company or from a place like Graingers. If you don't want to do it yourself you could take your pump to a pool company or a motor repair shop.

a good rule of thumb,, if you have not been in one take a few pics, as you go through it,,, that way when you back out you will have a visual referance,,, a couple of the peskier parts look like they can go in either direction and it a bear if you slide them on in upside down

My Hobart D300 mixer appears to be leaking oil/grease

Hi,I'm a hobart tech and repair these mixer's often. If you see oil in the drip cup then the center shaft seal in the transmission is worn.If there is oil near the transformer then the motor shaft seal is also bad.Hobart doesnt release their service manuals to the public but if you go to their site www.hobartcorp.com you can register for free and get a parts manual thats helpful. If you need help with the repair let me know,i can step you through it.

Need motor & impellor for Hobart AM8

I havn't seen an AM8 in over 15 years.
Hobart will keep parts available for quite a few years past end of production, but this may be too long. The AM 10 and early 12's are compatable.
You need a 6 bolt pump to motor. Yours has the old cast iron wash arms. All the new have light stainless arms. Just checked my records. the new AM12 which superceeded your design was in 1981. Perhaps look around for a used AM14 which fits your tables and plumbing. Confirm the voltage is compatable.
The AM15 is the current spec and is far superior.

You should be able to purchase the manual. I know that Hobart abandoned that policy a few years back -- unless they re-instated it. Call Mother Hobart and ask. 937-332-3000

There is a few tricks to these units, it would be tough to convey here. But here goes...

Remove back cover. Loosen 6 or 7 screws around outside of motor windings. Thump the nose of the mixer downward to break the seal. Watch for spacer washers where shafts go into motor case. Remove spring. Remove idler. Remove shifting guide. Remove gear assy. Leave beveled gears in place if possible. Clean. Use Darina II grease. (20 oz) Clean and permatex "seal". Tighten mounting bolts. Adjust set screw at back of planetary. (Double set screw. The first one is to lock the adjustment.) Test in 1st and then 3rd while turning the set screw. You just make it quiet for a proper adjustment.

Good luck -- Mike
