Acer aspire 3680 MONITOR backlighting problem.

My Acer aspire 3680 laptop display has turned dull red, i cant see the image correctly but when i connect it to a external monitor every thing works perfectly.

This happened as i was watching a movie, it initially turned yellow then the screen when dark but could see the image faintly but turned into dull red after formating and doing a new installation.

after checking on the net for possible problems, i found out that it might be either a burnt out back light or a bad inventer but that was for a dell laptop.

i want to know what is the cause for the change in my display and how can i fix it.

Am in Ghana/west Africa

please help am desperate

My screen is just very dull. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about computers, all I've tried is adjusting the screen in 'Control Panel' in 'Display'. Help! I'm hoping its something simple I can correct myself. Thanks!

Acer Aspire 5610 LCD backlight problem

If it is less than 1 year old, go to http://www.acerwarranty.co.uk for UK or http://support.acer.com/ for US.

I did this last year for my girlfriends laptop backlight problem and it was a free courier both ways and was repaired within 2 weeks (new part required). No cost to you.

Otherwise, sorry I dont know how to fix it.

Hi, just turned on my acer aspire, and whilst power is going through it, the screen won't come on. is this a common problem?

Does the laptop appear to boot up but cannot see an image on the screen?
If this is the case the LCD screen maybe faulty.
You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

MY ACER LAPTOP SCREEN TURNS ON BUT THE SCREEN IS BLACK

To determine if you have a video card problem or the LCD screen is at fault.
Connect an external monitor to the video port on the laptop and boot up your laptop, if you get a display on the external monitor then your video card is OK and you have a faulty LCD.

When you power your laptop without an external monitor and have a close look at the LCD screen at and you see a slight image then the fault is with the backlighting panel. This fault could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL backlight lamp.

Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
The inverter can be easily replaced so can the CCFL lamp (but requires a lot more work)
