What is happening is a partial melting and refreezing. Make sure the ice compartment door is kept closed.

check the chute door. Whe you depress the lever the chute opens and if you don't dispense all the cubes by just ketting up slightly then th cube(s) get caught behind the chute door and either hod it open or melt in place. My kids remove the glass in one movement and we have ice cubes falling out . I'm constantly picking up ice cubes off the floor. Try it out, It's actuallya two step lever. The chute is opened on first hslf or lever snd the auger to move the ice comes on when the lever is fully depressed. Dispense the ice and let up on the lever till the auger stops and all cubes have dropped out.If a cube doesn't clear the chute before thechute door closes, it will hold the door open enough to melt and when it has melted dow enough to let the door close it refreezes. Good luck.

I have a PSS26 ge profile fridge and it quit making ice

The icemaker is bad . You have an electronic icemaker and the internal boards cannot take the freezing and the heat (freezing moisture) . Just replace the icemaker .

Freezer and icemaker freezes, jams.

I have run into this before and found it very helpful to re-level the refrigerator. By leaning the fridge back toward the wall about an inch helped keep the water and ice in the tray. Remember to remove items that block air flow in the freezer. Remove the ice bin and clean it then start over with the fridge leaning back a little. Hope this helps.

Ice maker not making ice

1)First check you have a water line that is getting water to the ice maker.

2)Ice makers have a valve at the bottom that open and close when told by the ice maker replace that cheap fix.

3)The ice maker needs to be repaced.
(how far into the line will the water freezehow far into the line will the water freeze)
.The valve at the back opens and closes will not leave water in the line to freeze.

Ice maker is freezing up

The solenoid valve can leak slightly to make your problem. To check it, undo the tube from the solenoid to the freezer with the solenoid unplugged, and the water pressure on. Any leakage is bad, replace it.

Ice maker is not working

Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

Ice maker isn't filling with water. Water is on and ice maker is on. It's been humid.

Ice maker tube freezing up

  • change the water valve on the back of the machine.
  •  the water valve is slowly leaking water up to the icemaker where it freezes and builds up ice, blocking the water flow.

Freezer Problem

The only thing I can think of is your icemaker heater is staying on. When your icemaker goes into a harvest mode, (dumping ice and then re-filling with water) there is a "U" shaped heater (located on the under side of the icemaker) that comes on to release the frozen cubes from the icemaker mold. If this heater is continuously hot, it will cause temperatures in the freezer to rise.
