Press the Menu button. The channel number will flash. Press the adjust keys to select the channel number. Press the menu key again and the Subchannel number will flash. Set to desired number. Then press the push-to-talk key to get out of menu mode. Repeat with second radio and be sure to choose the same channel and subchannel. Then adjust volumne as needed.

I bought 6 sets of Midland LXT 345 walkie-talkies for the teachers to use when they go out on the playground. Less than 1 year later several of them don't work. They keep them in their charges when...

The batteries have likely been damaged from being on the chargers too long. Try trading a known good battery into the non-working radios and see if it/they will work with a good battery. If so, replace your batteries, and then only put the radios on the charge when they need a charge, such as after the radios have been used 8-10 hours. Longterm charging can quickly age batteries. Life expectancy of a battery is 18-24 months with good care.

Best regards.

Oops, misplaced my manual for my Midland LXT walkie talkie radios. How do I get a specific channel to use. When I push the scan button it goes thru channels 1 thru 22 but how do I stop it on a specific...

bobduffy39,

Channels are selected by tapping the center button once then using the arrows. The next tap of the center takes you to the CTCSS, DCS, and other functions follow. When scanning simply tap the transmit button and it should stop on the selected channel. Channels 8-14 are FRS channels at 500mw. These are the preferred channels to use for most people. 1-7and 15-22 are considered GMRS and requires a FCC License. Many people have been known to use these channels without having the license. This form of pirating is not recommended. I have included these links which could be of help to you.

Try replacing the batteries with a good set of alkalines. The standard batteries that come with these radios are of poor quality and get weak very shortly after purchasing these radios. The radios will have the symptoms you described when the batteries are weak. At least this has been my experience having these radios.

This model radio does not have Privacy codes to filter your communications, you should change them for a model with this feature. A radio with this feature you have to choose the channel first then the privacy code in both radios or in all radios that want to communicate with, if any radio that is in the same channel but with a diferent privacy code, will not be heard
