Sometimes it will power back up as normal and other times it will go to the windows error screen where it asks if you want to start in safe mode, normally etc.

Well here it goes!
I believe you have a bad section on your hard drive.
You may need to reformat your hard drive and restore your operating system.

Toshiba has in the past given their owners the original disks so that you can do this.
First off if you can copy and store any of your files when it comes back up and works for some time so that you can load these files back on when the laptop's fully restored.
Time consuming but it works.
The only thought also is to replace the drive with a new one so that there will be no bad sections/sectors. These drives aren't too expensive anymore and you will get a new one with a lot more space on it.
Look into a USB external drive also. These are comming down greatly in price and you can offload or copy files to this drive and then after you repair the old drive or install the new one. Reload all your files back on to your laptop if you wish.

Microcenter or Best Buy web sites may be a good start. remember the replacement drive is a 2.5 or 2 1/2 inch drive.
Either it's an IDE or a SATA drive.
If you look up in google they have pictures of each connector for your to tell which one is yours or check with the toshiba site. They may tell you.

Looking free download toshiba A105-S4074

I'm going to guess that you want the installation disks for this Toshiba. I can't help you with that as any unauthorised copies are not legal. Microsoft do not allow free copies of installation disks.

Toshiba sell the recovery disks for around about £18 UKP Call their technical support line to order them. Or you could install a vanilla copy of the operating system and download and install the drivers from

Toshiba Sattlite, boots but black screen. Caps Lock light is on and F10& F11 key is okay.

Corrupted operating system. Start over with a restore disc and if you do not have one buy one you will need it from the factory. Re-install the whole system over again. Insert the disc in the slot and power it on select boot from DVD or CD-Rom which ever you have. Follow the onscreen instructions. John

I cannot start my lap top A 105-s4074, the screen shows safe mode, reboot etc but nothing helps.

Power on the laptop and keep hitting F8 key. You should see bunch of options. Select the option that says something like "Go back to last known good configuration"

Toshiba A105-S4074 laptop's monitor has no backlight

Use the VGA port to connect an external monitor, this will get you up and running temporarily until you can fix the screen, it sounds like you have a faulty inverter.

Directions on replacing screen Toshiba Laptop Satellite A105-S4074

Is the screen physically broken or the display does not show an image?
If you just don't see an image you don't need to replace the screen, it may only be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCLF lamp.

If I open my Satellite A105 display too far, it goes black.

Hi, This is definitely a loose connection problem.
Does the screen go completely black or just a part ?
If its just a part, LCD is defective. You may have to change the whole LCD screen. You can get one for ~180$ from ebay
If the whole is turning off, I guess the power cable might be little loose.
You can open the LCD panel and check if you know what you are doing.
Else take it to a normal technician and ask him to open the LCD panel and see it.

I think you need to do a power cycle. remove the battery and use tha AC adapter alone. If it boots, then thats good. U can try also booting on safe mode by pressing F8. Then re start the notebook in normal mode. If it wont works then i think u need to reinstall windows as a last resort. U need to use TOSHIBA RECOVERY DISK this time.
