How do you re install the drum belt ?

I'm assuming this is a clothes Dryer. There must be a reason for the "Drum Belt" being off. Problems getting it back on are a few simple steps. While standing in front in front of the Dryer, take notice that there is a separation seam that runs from the back of the unit completely around it Once again while in front of the dryer, take notice of the front corners. Using a large screwdriver, drive the screwdriver in the seam at one corner and pry the top up until it pops up. Repeat the same action on the other corner. Lift the lid up. You will see the motor and its shaft, the belt and a small "Idler Pulley". Loop the belt around the drum 1st then the motor shaft. Then with a small bit of pressure, slip the idler pulley on the outer part of the belt. This is the case for approximately 75% of dryers made, however some belt replacements require access from the back side of the unit. In either case its approximately a 1 hour job. I hope this has helped you to solve your problem. Good luck and hopefully this will work for you. MRF

Dryer won't turn

Okay, approach the dryer and first unplug it from power. Now very carefully take a flat blade screw driver and push the blade into the right or left front corners of the dryer box exterior between the mani box housing and the top. Carefully pry upward trying not to scar the porcelain paint finish. You will hear apop as the lid hold down spring detaches and releases. repeat on the other side. Place a hand on each of the lid corners and lift. the top will rise a angle upwards and to the back, use something to prop up the lid. Now looking down you will see the drum and a large narrow band running around the drums circumference . This is the drum belt if it is tight with no play. It is in
a proper position if it is about 4 to 6 inches from the back of the drum.
If it is displaced or hanging off the back see if it will move back up onto the drum. If when you do this it is loose or not tensioned tightly the belt will need adjusting down near the motor. To do this you must remove the back of the dryer, please be careful not break or disconnect the wires unless you mark them with tape to show where they were attached. Now this step works for both broken and displaced ,or improperly tensioned belts. at the motor near the bottom of the dryer you will see a pulleythat the belt attaches to on the motor right above the motor pulley you will see a tensioning bar or a pulley .this tensions the belt so it will tightly grip the drum of the dryer and the motor pulley.
Loosen the bracket position the belt and then retighten making sure the belt tension is tight on the drum. Now hand rotate the drum and see if the tension of the belt turns with the motor and does not slip.
IF it slips retension and recheck. If everything turns the way it should
Put the dryer back together, but do not entirely close the lid.Plug the dryer in, Set a dryer preset such as air dry and turn it on. if the
drum turns and doesn't squeal every thing is a okay . Turn it off and close the lid. Make sure the lid holddown catches lock the lid down.
Pop in a mid size load of clothes or Towels turn the unit on. If it squels it needs re tensioning. Now worst case scenario, the belt wont tension because it is stressed, frayed or stretched, go through the replacement procedure again. Proper Tension of the belt is key to peak operation. Good Luck if you are a stickler for proper belt deflection, a
technical term used forhow tight a belt can be before a belt is too tight, go to the dryer company's website and look for drum belt deflection measurements. I always used the belt rotation slip or no slip test. Have fun !!

Model fde336resi loose drum

There are 2 areas to check for this dryer drum. The back center bearing looks like a small trailer hitch ball which is attached to the drum. It fits into a plastic socket on the back wall of the dryer. To remove the drum, you need to take the dryer front off and disconnect the belt that goes around the drum. Then use the belt as a handle and yank up the back of the drum to lift the ball of the drum out of the socket. The plastic socket is what usually wears but you can get a complete kit including the ball and socket for about $20. While the drum is out, look at the inside edge of the drum opening. Should be a white plastic bearing strip completely around the opening. If cracked or missing replace those also. Should be 2 strips. Thats all that supports the drum in the front.

Drum won't spin caused by piece shoe lace got stuck in drum. dryer was still on but drum not turning.

first of all never dry shoe laces in a dryer a=or anything simular to it. The drum has a very thin seal between the front edge of the drun towards the front panel of the dryer. That front panel will be needed to be removed so you can clean the seal out really good and thoroughly inspect it for tears, rips or and missing peices. If beyond using replace it. While you are in there inspect the belt around the drun and tensioner too. The belt should be tight without cracks in it and the tensioner & bearing should move freely for good performance

I need to replace a belt on my hotpoint dreyer how do i do it

Disconnect power.

Open the door and look along the front upper edge of the door opening. In the top left and right rounded corner of the door opening you will see screws going upward into the top. Remove both screws and raise the top.

Look down inside the open top dryer from above . If unbroken it should be showing across the tub from left to right. If broken you won't see a belt (about 3/8" thick). If belt is missing, proceed. On each left and right edge there will be a screw holding the front assembly to the case of the dryer. Remove 1 on each side.

The dryer front can now be pulled toward you about 3 inches at the top. Take the new belt and work it over the drum from front by lifting and rotating the drum. Lay belt on drum about 1/2 way back from front with groves down on the drum and proceed to reassemble machine by reversing disassembly procedure.

When reassembling the top, part of each underside edge of the top must go beneath a sheet metal lip located at each right and left edge of the dryer just below the control panel. If the small space between the side and top panels is wider at the back than the front you have not accomplished this alignment, try again.

Once you have the top and front back on, pull out the dryer and remove the small access panel at the back bottom. The belt must be "looped" around the motor and idler pulley like this ( http://www.applianceaid.com/images/ldrger-idler-pulley.jpg ). Slowly turn the drum around one turn to line up the belt, to make sure that it will not fall off because of being crooked or twisted.

Works but doesnt spin. Where is the belt located. I think that might be the problem.

To access your drive belt, you need to take the front cover off. Unplug the dryer first.
There should be 2 screws on the front cover in the lower front area. Remove the screws and tip the bottom of the front panel forward until the top clips are frree of the top panel. Be careful there is a door safety switch wired. You can disconnect the wire and set the front panel aside.
Look under the drum in the dryer and you'll be able to tell if the belt is broken or loose.
IF you need to replace it, you'll need to take the 4 screws that hold the front drum support/duct assembly loose from the dryer case. Once these are removed you can pull out the whole gray assembly and slide the drum out.
The new belt can be purchased online at repairclinic.com if you want.
To put back in, you can put the belt around the drum and slide it back in. It should have a grooved side and a flat side on the belt. Put the flat side toward the drum. It routes around the motor pulley and a tensioner pulley. It may take a bit to figure out the routing, but the key is to put the belt into the indentation ring on the drum to allow you to get it around the pulley and tensioner... if you leave the drum sticking out of the machine about 8 inches, you can reach thru the drum and hook the belt in place, then slide the drum in and pull the belt out of the indentation and onto the larger circumference of the drum. You may have to twist the belt to get the flat side next to the drum.
You can then put it all back together...
Good luck... be patient and you can do it.

Looks like a belt broke for the drum.

Not knowing what model you have. To reinstall most belts you must first remove the front of the dryer. Once the drum is exposed, then you can retrack the belt around the drum. You'll see where the other one passed. then you will have to place the belt around the tensioner and pulley. If you still have the manual, it should show you exactly what to do. Of course, shut the power off before making any repairs. But first i would take the back off and look at the motor down below. You can see the belt from this angle as well and it's a lot easier than taking the front off. Good luck.

How do i put the belt back on

Unplug dryer, then pry the front left and right corners of the top up and try not to scratch the paint. Tilt the top back to the wall behind dryer. unplug door switch and remove sheet metal screws from inside of front. Then as pulling the front away from drum reach inside door with one hand and lift the drum up slightly as to relieve the weight of the front of drum up off of the plastic slides that serve as a resting place and friction guide for drum. Then again lift drum slightly and slide belt back around the drum, put front and top back on after deciding if you can feed the belt around motor pulley and spring loaded idler pulley from above or a square door in bacl of dryer. There are a lot of ways the idler pulley has the belt fed through. But I think you will make it ok, Let me know, Sea Breeze

Belt broke on GE Dryer model #DDE7500BALWH

You will need a WE12X82P belt, or just a WE12x82 (the P stands for packaged)
  • Disconnect power
  • Remove screws under the front edge of the dryer top
  • Swing top up and remove one screw from each side panel holding the dryer front, near the top of the dryer.
  • Pull dryer front forward a bit and lift off bottom pegs. Swing to the side. (no need to disconnect wires if you don't want to)
  • Put belt around drum, lifting drum a bit to get belt past drum support slides on the bottom side.
  • Check to make sure drum slides are not worn through, especially the one on the left side.
  • The grooved side of the belt touches the drum
  • Belt runs from drum directly to motor pulley on the left side, then around belt tensioning wheel and back to the drum.
  • Turn the drum a revolution or two (counter clockwise) before reassembly.
