Insert your Mac OS disc and start your laptop with the c key held down. It will launch the system on the disc instead of your computer. Once it reaches the desktop, you can choose "Disk Utiltiies" from the menu bar and run a disc repair on your hard drive to fix any damaged OS file... then restart without the OS disc.

Without inserting any disks, try just holding down the "Option" key while booting up and keep holding "Option" key down until a small picture of your hard drive appears in the center of the gray screen. This may take a few minutes, but be patient. The hard drive photo will eventually come up with an arrow pointing to the hard drive photo. Click on that arrow and your computer will probably boot up again.

SOURCE: Sometimes my mac air will not boot up when turned

Does it always eventually boot up? If so, I don't think it's a serious problem. Your OS may need to be restored. Do you still have your original install CD? There are detailed instructions on how to do the restore online. If the problem get's worse and it doesn't turn on even after restore, you may have a logic board issue, Here is an Macbook Repair Guide that shows how to open a Macbook. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to Macbook Repair.

Hello,

Go to System Preference on your Mac which is a setting icon (Gear) then go to DISPLAYS > ARRANGEMENT >CHECK ON THE MIRROR DISPLAYS.

You can also set the monitor arrangement sideways or upside down.

Hope this helps.

A grey screen is on my computer with a bunch of codes on it, I cannot get to any other screen. Along with it is a black box saying I need to restart my computer, when I do and turn it back on the same...

Booting up in safe mode will allow you to open disk utility (Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility) and repair permissions / repair disk from there

To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), do this:

  1. Be sure your Mac is shut down.
  2. Press the power button.
  3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
  4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

EMac screen stays as grey screen whith swrling grey pinwheel-wont boot beyond that point?

Your best bet is to reset the System Management Controller;

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

...and then reset the Parameter RAM:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

If it persists after that, try Safe Mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455

...if that persists, try booting to your install DVD and running Disk Utility:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417

..also note in this article that if for some reason you are unable to boot into your Install DVD the instructions for using fsck will do the same thing.

If that fails to resolve the issue, you'll want to reinstall the system:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1710.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it will likely need repair at an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store.

The wether does have something to do with it. After a lightning storm humidity is a problem. the humidity and heat can make the screen lighter, kind of grey. After the wether clears up it will take an hour to regain full color. Also it could be if it was charging while the storm happened it could have blown a fuse and messed up you screen colors
