I'm a 1st time user Hp notbook. How do I copy and paste? I do not have a mouse.

Cut and paste is as simple ah highlighting the word by holding the left mouse button down and dragging over it and then right click on the page and select copy OR you can highlight and use ctrl c to copy and ctrl v to paste

Can you elaborate on which application you are trying to highlight? If you are in a browser, it is possible that what you are trying to highlight is not text but a piece of image. You cannot highlight text inside images.

select the next you want to copy and then press control c at the same time and then control v to paste

Press the left mouse key down, and hold it down.
Slide the mouse cursor across the entire URL.

It will be highlighted in blue.
Let go of the mouse button.
Press, and hold down on the CTRL key, and at the same time press the c key.

Put your mouse cursor in your browser address bar.

Left-click once. Press, and hold down on the CTRL key, and at the same time press the v key.

If your asking how do I Copy and Paste ... several keyboard commands exist to help with this method. I call it a Method because you are asking the program to do a task, this case copy and paste. And of coarse a User can still use the Mouse to Copy and Paste. Both Methods will be described.

The [Ctrl] control button on the key board will allow the user to cut and paste what they want. These are considered keyboard shortcuts.

Step one: select the object(s), by highlighting it with the mouse. Right click and drag the mouse over the desired item(s). Or if the entire page needs to be copied, Ctrl + A will select everything on the page once the curser is placed at beginning of the page.

Step two: Once the user has selected what they want, depending on the function they performed for the selection, ( by right-clicking the mouse and dragging over item(s) ) the user now selects Copy ( makes a copy of the selected item ) or Cut ( removes the item from the original page ) from the drop-down message, and prepairs to Paste the selection to the new page or position ... keep in mind, Ctrl + C will copy the highlighted item as well.

Step three: to paste the item on new page, user left-clicks the point were they expect the item to be placed. And again, depending on the function called upon, will right-click and select Paste from the drop down box. Or press the Ctrl + V buttons. The selected item will appear at the point were the curser is flashing.

Helpful hint about [Ctrl] methods. Ctrl + X will delete the selected item, Ctrl + Z will undo prior editing steps. [Ctrl] methods are quick, easy functions, that allow the user to become productive. I recommend that the [Ctrl] method be emploted whenever possible. I hope you enjoy. Have fun.
