SOURCE: operating unit

This unit will not record certain types of TV and no copy-protected VHS and it doesn't tell you when you have those situations--and it doesn't come up with an error message that tells you what you are doing wrong. First step is to be sure that your source material is not copy-protected.

SOURCE: No Power after an electical storm

It is very likely that a fuse has blown inside the unit. If you have warranty on the device you should get the manufacturer to replace it. However if it's out of warranty and your not afraid to open up the case of a DVD player you should be able to unplug the unit. Remove the screws and then look for a small glass type fuse located on the main board of the DVD player. It will have two tin ends and a glass tube in the middle. Remove it with a small pair of pliers being careful not crush the glass tube. Replace it with the same type of fuse with the correct voltage and amperage.

What could it be when put auto in drive suddenly fuse blows under hood?

Which fuse is blowing? Look at a wiring diagram for that fuse circuit. If that fuse only controls one component, the component may be faulty or the wiring circuit has a problem.

If the fuse circuit controls several components, you may need to disconnect/reconnect components one at a time to try and see which component or wiring circuit is faulty. Hopefully when you unplug the faulty component, the fuse will no longer blow. It is possible that test would not be conclusive because every time you unplug something you lower the amp draw on the fuse.

Shorted diodes, shorted main power switching regulator device, shorted other capacitors, like small ceramic ones. So many causes can be there. You must check each component to locate which one is faulty. Sometimes, more than one component can be faulty.

KitchenAid KHMS175M stopped working. Electrical socket is okay, no electrical breaker issues. No lights or fan either. Could this be a fuse and how would I check that?

Probably is a fuse. IT is behind the control panel. Remove grill, one screw hold panel n. Remove screw, lift panel straight up. You'll see how those hooks on the side of the panel fit for reassembly. The fuse will be ceramic, a light gray or white. amperage will be stamped in the silver end, probably 20A. I always checked for a reason for the failure, ie loose high voltage connections, faulty component, or high amp draw. You would have to open the unit up for that. So pay your 3 or 4 bucks for a CERAMIC replacement of the SAME AMP VALUE, and hope for the best. If the new one blows it needs to go to the shop.

My dryer isn't drying - no heat seems to be coming out. We've checked the vent and air is passing through. Raising to higher drying level doesn't help.

Check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty component. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually just inside the rear of the dryer and attached to or near the exhaust duct. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Model SDG505DAWW , no heat.

Check all the sections below for faults. replace any component that is faulty. in most cases, it will be a faulty set of coils. i still recommend checking every linked component for flaws before replacing the coil assembly.

1. Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

2. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

3. Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

4. Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.

Diplomat ADP3702 cooling fan problem

It could be a fuse or thermal cut out, you can test it with a meter. you should have continuity through it, if not then it is faulty.
If you do not have access to meter, then if take a piece of wire and connect it to the fan terminal and connect the other end to the origin of the ceramic fuse or what ever it is, and it should work, you are in effect bypassing the part in question.
If it still does not work then you are going to have to investigate further, or call some one in.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
