    Hi There,

That sounds like an internal /componant error. You could try a clean install and see if it sorts the problem....

Computer is in analog power saving mode, This comes on screen at start up and then screen goes black. I am on a laptop as my problem is on my desktop computer.

This is most likely due to the computer itself is not functioning in and this is the typical reaction of a monitor that is powered on and not receiving a signal from the computer. What is the state of the PC when you turn it on? Any lights, fans do you get picture at all on the monitor before the power saver mode kicks in? Most likely scenarios
  • Video card is bad on the computer
  • Power supply is bad on the computer
  • Motherboard is bad on the computer
P.S. Even if you have lights and fans working on the computer one of these three parts can still be bad. You can rule out the monitor by plugging it into your laptop and toggling the display (generally done by pressing the FN key and F7 or whichever F key has a screen icon on it)
Comment back for further troubleshooting. Thanks!

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000, it had been working fine and from one day to the next when I booted it up all lights came on fan kicked on but the screen was black. I tried the battery removal power...

The inverter to the back light may have gone out. Connect it to an external monitor from the VGA port of the laptop. You might need to set your function key to toggle or turn on the VGA port in order to display to the external monitor. If the monitor works, then the inverter or back light is bad.

When I hit power button on computer, power light doesn't come on...and the fan kicks on, but nothing else happens. nothing shows up on monitor except the test screen with 3 colors...the computer doesn't...

THis sounds like a power supply issue.. I had a similar issue with mine. my fan would kick on for about 2 seconds then shut off.
Hope that helps

Sounds like capacitors in the power supply. Open it up and check for any swolen Caps.

Power up issue

You may have a contact issue in the battery compartment.
I don't think this will help but you can try using a pencil eraser to scrub the battery pack's contacts and, if they are accessible, the compartment's contacts too.
The situation (brief flash of LEDs) you are describing sounds like a battery pack on its last legs but it may be only that it has not been charging for a while.
