Computer logs on, but then no programs work, basically frozen

I was using my computer, the internet was open, and then all of the sudden a white, fog like screen came over the screen. and the computer just froze. so i held down the power button and it turned off, i restarted it, and it came to the log in screen, logged in successfully, but then the screen basically freezes and i cannot run ANY programs. i tried to do the F8 key, but apparently repairing the comp that way wasn't successful. what is happening?!

The 633 error is a connection problem that appears every time you try to use the modem on your computer.

It states "modem is already in use" and prevents you from accessing the Internet.

This problem mostly appears when a device with incompatible drivers has conflicts with the modem driver on your computer system.

The major software that causes this error is the Palm Pilot Software.

With some simple troubleshooting steps, resolve this modem communication error.

Shut down all currently running applications and restart your computer.

Press "F8" repeatedly before Windows begins to open the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

Scroll down and select "Safe Mode." Press "Enter" to log into Windows Safe Mode.

Safe Mode is used for troubleshooting and repairing system components.

Click the Windows "Start" button and select the "Control Panel."

Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to open the programs window.

Click "Program and Features" (Windows Vista users) and select "Uninstall a Program" to open the programs window.

Click the incompatible software (e.g., Palm Desktop and Synchronization Software) and select "Change/Remove."

Click "Yes" to confirm and uninstall the program from your computer.

Restart your computer normally to complete the process.

Hope this helps

I don't know what version of internet explorer I have on my computer. All of a sudden I'm getting an error message when I try to log into a program called Mylabsplus. It requires IE8. I have been...

Hi

You do not mention which operating system you are using.

If you have automatic updates activated and are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, then you may have been upgraded to IE9.

If you are using XP, then IE8 is the highest you can go with.

It is unusual for a program to only work with an older version of IE.

Try to restore your settings to a time before the settings changed, when your computer was working well:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > select date and event on calendar and schedule for when pc was working well > restore > restart pc.

I hope this helps.

I purchased a used 2008 Jeep Patriot and it didn't come with fog lights. I have purchased OEM fog lights but I am having a hard time finding the connector plug to with them. Suggestion?

I have not run into this problem before. Usually, people either purchase the vehicle equipped with fog lamps from the factory or they add aftermarket fog lamps to the vehicle after purchase. In your case, you are trying to connect factory lamps that were not there from the factory? I'm not sure that you will find the connectors you are looking for. I do know for certain that the factory fog lamps are computer-controlled and that if the vehicle was not equipped with them from the factory, then the computer will not be programmed to make them work. If the wiring and connectors are there at all, they will be coming from the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) located on the left fender. The factory wires are WHITE/YELLOW for the left fog lamp and WHITE/ORANGE for the right fog lamp. What about control switches, wire, etc. Did you purchase all of that as well?

Google Chrome basically wont work.

You need to make sure you've fully downloaded it.
Just to make sure here's the link where I recently downloaded it from - http://www.google.com/chrome
Download it after you've done that restart your computer. Just to be sure it's fully downloaded. Once you've restarted your computer and logged back in.....
  1. Simply click on "start"
  2. Then click on "Control Panel"
  3. Once your on control panel go onto "network and internet"
  4. Then click on "internet options"
  5. Then on the tab named "programs"
  6. Then on the internet programs section at the bottom click "set programs"
  7. A new window should open called "default programs"
  8. Click on the top option "set your default programs" (It should take a while to load)
  9. Click on "Google Chrome" If it appears. If it doesn't appear don't worry. It'll still be the same.
  10. Open your "google chrome" browser up. (even if it doesn't work(but make sure your laptop or computer is connected to the internet))
  11. Click on the tools option on the page which is the spanner icon at the top right of the page.
  12. Click on options (eleventh option down)
  13. At the bottom of the Google Chrome Options page they should be a buttom saying "Make google chrome my default browser" Click on that.
  14. Keep on that page click on the tab called "under the bonnet"
  15. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, make sure the bottom options on "check for sever certificate revocation"

It then should work
Hope I helped Dr Reed

Every time I log in my computer freeze

When booting up press F8 and boot in safe mode then run MSCONFIG and make sure your computer turns on running only basic programs. It could be you have a program running that is causing it to freeze as soon as you boot up. If it still freezes in safe mode you might need to repair windows using the original CD.

Maybe there are programs eating away at your memory.  Too much is loaded or simply just running in the background. Check these out first.
