Hi:
The problem isn't battery related, but a windows corruption issue. You might try booting up in the last known good configuration, or do a system restore to an earlier date, to correct what was done to the windows system.

The solution to no post on a computer is to remove everything that you can, take out the hdd, the ram, and optical disk and see if it boots. If it does, put the RAM back, then try again, if it does, put the hdd back and try again. It is a process of elimination. If everything is removed and it wont boot, it may be the motherboard. I have also seen bad batteries do this. There is a chip inside the battery that wont let the machine boot when the life of the battery is expired.

Locked keybroad toshiba satellite C660

Try booting in safe mode and see if the keyboard is locked. Maybe the keyboard is bad.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.

Toshiba satellite L300 black screen. Tried the 0 key and it only goes 1/3. thinking booing/registry corrupt. No recovery disk or software came with my laptop. O/S is Vista I have data and photos that...

Yes everything will be wiped out, once you do the recovery. It will reinstall the factory settings.
You may try this first; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, then try to boot from safemode. Tap F8 upon booting up to enter the advance boot option. Select safe mode, save your files once loaded in safe mode. You may first try the system restore from , go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, select the previous date the laptop was working fine. If this will not work then the last resolution is the recovery.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a toshiba equium A110-233, a little elderly I know ! All was working fine until I turned it on a couple of days ago and now only get the initial toshiba screen then nothing, not even the cursor...

Hi shirley_ann1,

This problem that you have with your PC is a NO BOOT issue. After getting the startup Toshiba logo it's not booting up to your Windows. This could be a hardware or software problem depending on the result of the diagnostics that I'll be walking you through below, but definitely this issue can still be fixed.

Here's how:

1. If this is a software issue you can determine it by booting up on safe mode. To go to safe mode:
  • Shutdown the computer then turn it back on
  • The moment you turn on you PC keep on tapping F8 button until Safe Mode menu shows.
  • Then select Safe Mode, press enter.
If you'll be able to boot up on Windows using Safe Mode then you just have to reload your operating system. You will use the recovery disc that goes with your machine when you purchase it.

2. If it's a hardware issue you will not be able to boot up even on Safe Mode or even go to BIOS when you keep on tapping F2 during startup. This means your harddrive is corrupted or defetive. It needs to be reimaged or replaced.

Hope this will help you resolve your concern.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Toshiba Laptop will not stay on for more than 5 seconds

Sounds like the battery is dead or not able to hold a charge. Plug in your wall adapter and see if your laptop light comes on. If not then the adapter may be bad, thus not charging the battery. Another common problem is the AC jack on the laptops get broken inside and need to be either resoldered or replaced. Thats why you see a ton of them for sale on Ebay.

Try hitting F8 when booting, booting to Safe Mode, and running System Restore to revert back to a time before your issue began. Post back with how it goes.

Frozen Toshiba P100

Try This. Restart your computer and as soon as it boots up tap the F8 key repeatedly until you see windows advanced options menu. select safe mode. when it asks you for the operating system just hit enter. as soon as it boots to safe mode do this. click start> run> type msconfig then hit enter. On the system configuration utility click on the startup tab then select disable all. Click apply then close. restart your computer again. It may be a corrupted startup program that is preventing your computer to boot up properly.

I think you need to do a power cycle. remove the battery and use tha AC adapter alone. If it boots, then thats good. U can try also booting on safe mode by pressing F8. Then re start the notebook in normal mode. If it wont works then i think u need to reinstall windows as a last resort. U need to use TOSHIBA RECOVERY DISK this time.
