Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
Thanks for using FixYa. The issue arises due to overheat of the console, failing fan, dust and the system is not cooled correctly. Some of the connections under the chip are not making good contact and this problem is caused by excessive heat. So ps3 needs to be open and the motherboard or whole PS 3 needs reflow and new thermal compound to dissipate the heat better. The blinking red light indicates an overheating of the console. Probably a fan is failing or full of dust and the system isn't cooled correctly. Or you are blocking important air intakes. The console detects the high temperature and shuts off.
The three beeps signal, that the console is forcefully ending an application to turn the console off safely. So while the beeping is normal, the red blinking light and the cause thereof is not.
Try to clean the console with compressed air spray, or have it serviced by Sony, if you are sure the PS3 has enough "breathing room".
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

This is caused by overheating. vacuum the vents on it and make sure there is adequate ventalation to it. If it is in a cabinet leave the door open when in use. It is best to give about 8 inches on top, both sides, and back of unit.

If the red light blinks and it beeps then this indicates it is overheating
The first thing you need to do is make sure the PS3 is not on carpet or on top of anything else giving off heat, also make sure all the air vents are free from dust, use a small vaccuum for this with a brush attatchment and give them a good cleaning. Leave the PS3 unplugged and off for 24 hours, this will reset it if its overheated. The overheating problem will cause the CPU boards to melt where they are fused together

Okay, My indications and profeesional service would point at a overheat is why this is doing this. At one point the system overheated and now you got this error messages. What to do here:
1. If under warrenty do not hesistate any further BRING IT IN.
2. Out of warrenty you can get it fixed for under $150 USD by a professional like me, I cannot do it because of a contract I have with Fixya provents me from outside work on Fixya.
3. Do it yourself here is what you can TRY open it up take all the heatsync off buy some thermal conpound put a dap on each waffer toward the middle do not spread it with your thumbs or fingers let the heat sych do that. Put it all back togeather and turn it on if the error goes away your fix will only last 3 to 6 months until you have to do it again.
if that does not work you will need to have the motherboard replaced.
Thanks and do click the end session button.
