My needle keeps breaking because it's hitting the square part of the presser foot that it goes down into.

If your machine has multiple needle positions, make sure the needle is set in the center position. Also, make sure you are using a zig-zag presser foot where the opening is wide enough to accommodate an off-center needle or to make decorative stitching. If you are using a straight-stitch foot, then the foot will have only a small circular hole in the center and the machine must be set for straight-stitch only.

It the needle still hits, then the needle bar may be off-kilter. Take it for service.

How do I Fix a Zipper Foot to my Janome sewing Machine

It should attach the same way any other presser foot attaches. If it is the square type with small holes or notches on each side, you move the needle to line up with one of those holes. If the needle does not have a separate side to side adjustment, usually you can move it using the width adjustment on the machine, as if you were going to stitch zig zag. If it is the long narrow kind, it will also have notches or holes on each side that you line up the needle with. Make sure the needle will go up/down without hitting the foot at all.

Needle not lined up with hole in presser foot

Is it also hitting the needle plate? if so then you need to move the arm the adjustment is internal and you\'ll have to disassemble the clam shell case of the machine. May be best to have a pro fix it for you.

Ishow me how to rewind the bobbin on a touch tronic 2001 singer sewing machine

Presser foot up, takeup lever at the top, thread the machine normally all the way and through the needle, open the needle plate, press the little lever to the right, wind the thread from the needle round the presser foot screw, press on the foot control slowly and wind the bobbin, when you have enough thread on the bobbin close the slide plate the winder will drop down, pull the threads to the back of the machine and start sewing

Loud thumping noise CS-6000i

hmmm... Can you determine where the thumping is coming from?

In my experience thumping like this is because something has gotten out of time. You might be able to see it if you take the bobbin, and needle plates off. Take off the threads, top and bottom and you might have to take out the bobbin carrier too. Making sure to understand how it goes back in. Take off the presser foot and any presser foot holder. Locate the shuttle point. Hand rotate the machine in the direction it normally turns (NEVER backwards) and watch what the needle does. Does the needle hit the shuttle? Does the shuttle bounce up and down?

You also might try grasping the presser foot bar and the lever at the same time. Check for play of the bar by gently moving the presser foot bar up and down while "feeling" for unusual movement.

Even if you determine the issue... you'll need to take it in for repair. There are no publicly available service manuals for your machine (or my brother for that matter)

You also might want to check your bobbin for rough spots, use very fine sand paper to smooth them out if you find any.

I have a brother sewing machine. i threaded and have rethreaded and threaded the bobbin over and over. it will not move the fabric and botton thread will not catch onto top. what am i doing wrong?

Brother machines are usually a very good brand. Sounds like you are having a small problem with threading..........I know how frustrating that can be!
Start over....totally from the beginning. First, clean the machine of all dust, I use a small paint brush to remove lint from the bobbin case area. Oil the machine. Remove all the thread from the machine, use a different bobbin and rewind it with new thread. Make sure the bobbin thread is the same as the thread you use to thread the upper needle with. Use a new needle that is the appropriate size for your sewing project. Check to make sure the feed dog is moving when you turn the wheel that raises the needle up and down. New needle, new bobbin, new thread......before you place the fabric under the presser foot (and with the presser foot raised), turn the wheel one complete rotation to allow the upper needle thread to catch the bobbin thread. Gently pull both threads out towards the back of the machine, making sure the bobbin thread is now coming up through the little hole in the feed dog plate. Place fabric under the presser foot, lower presser foot and as you slowly start to sew, make sure you have the bobbin thread pulled with slight tension out from the back of the needle. This will take up any slack in the bobbin thread and keep it from making a knotted mess. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Hello, I'm having trouble with stitches on the back- long, loose. Also the needle is hitting just past the hook( where the thread is picked up).

I think that your timing may be messed up, but try this, insert a new needle (flat side facing rear) and make sure that it is inserted all of the way up in the shaft. Now, rethread your machine, and with the presser foot up, pull on the top thread, it should move smoothly, now put the presser foot down, and the thread should barely move. This will seat the thread in the tension discs. Thread bunching up under fabric is usually the top thread causing the problem. Good luck

My kenmore sewing machine needle is coming down on presser foot.

Check the needle to make sure it is inserted with the flat side of the shaft toward the back of the machine.

Also, check to be sure the needle is not bent.

Remove the presser foot and see if the needle clears the opening in the needle plate and pulls up the bobbin thread.

If all of the above checks out, switch to a presser foot with a wider opening.

If not, the machine needs to be serviced as it may be the timing has to be adjusted.

Whenever you pick up a machine that has been serviced, try it out before taking it home.
