If this heater has a thermostat, yes it will shut off when the temp is reacjed The area it senses ca vary depending on it's location. If you put it outside it may never shut off, but, in a room closed up it would almost cycle on and off.

I bought a Sunbeam Heating Pad (Ultraheat) last year which I just took it out of the box last night. It is brand new, not used until last night and it smell like it was burning. I instantly unplugged it....

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

i think from sitting in the box for a year, the material can smell, form its first time usage.
I suggest you put the pad on or in a baking dish on the stove..plug in and see if the smell burns off. I think it will.

if not return to Sunbeam (800) 435-1250

Sunbeam SLP3310-UM shuts off after 2 minutes. I unplug it and hear a relay clicking after a couple of minutes. Replug it, and shuts off again after 2 minutes. It worked fine last year, not this year.

It's broken --- call Sunbeam customer service (888) 264-9669 and have your receipt and serial number ready. They are aware that these have faulty switches in them.

Did you get helped last year? If so please ignore. Otherwise....

Hi. You can locate a Sunbeam Service Centre via http://www.sunbeam.com.au/Pages/Support/Repairers.aspx

You're looking at $69,95 recommended retail.

BTW have you checked that it's not the blanket? Swap the controls over, if the problem follows the control it's the control. If the problem stays on the same side of the blanket, it's the blanket.

Also note Sunbeam has a 3 year warranty on electric blankets. If Date Of Purchase is less than 3 years ago call 1800025059 option 1 to speak to their Customer Service,

I too am having this problem.  I am checking out if anyone has a solution.  Somewhere someone said to change the "Fill switch"  I don't know what that is or where it is.  Does this help?  If you have found anything let me know. monica.roberts@usa.com

Heating pad

There are no repairs done on Sunbeam heating pads. If it is less than a year old either take it back where you purchased it or contact Sunbeam.
