There are two holes in the base of the telescope that match up with the two thumb screws on the tripod. It's easier if you lift up the base of the tripod a little using the latitude scale shaft.

Read the manual front to back before you use the scope.

I have a Meade RB-70 telescope and have stripped the gears in the vertical adjuster - Meade no longer has the parts available

Only Meade would have the repair parts. Sorry. You will need to either use it as is, or purchase another telescope.

The telescope TUBE could be re-mounted on a photo tripod and used manually if you want to do this.

You cannot. Except maybe at a well stocked hardware store, there might be something that would work. This is a VERY low cost refractor. Mostly made of plastic.

Need dimensions for CG-5 cinch-down bolt

Don, if you mean the handscrew that retains the mount in the hub, I believe that it's a common 10mm. Should be able to get one a big box hardware. I have seen CG-5s with the hole bored out and retreaded to 1/2NC to mount on a Meade HD Field Tripod. HTH, Geo.
