A205-s5814 built in SD reader feature

My a205-s5814 Toshiba laptop has a plastic cover over the opening where an SD reader normally would be. Is it possible to add this feature on? I'm not sure what is behind the cover.

You should be able to add this feature if the manufacturer has left a spot for it.

Toshiba satellite CD door will not open

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-1.htm

1) ALL power removed. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) Turn the laptop over bottom side up, Battery Compartment facing AWAY from you, down on a table.
You may wish to lay a soft Static free cloth on the table, to prevent scratching the table, or laptop.

3) Take this cover off,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-02.jpg

Remove the Ram Memory module/s. ('Stick')
Lay them/it carefully aside. Handle by the BODY. The Body is everywhere on the Ram Memory module, EXCEPT the gold plated contact pins at the bottom.

The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic.

4) Remove this Philips head screw, and push the optical drive out,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-03.jpg

The top of the optical drive will have small Philips head screws, or Torx screws. They sell Torx screwdrivers real cheap,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torx

Remove the screws, remove the cover, remove the disk.

joecoolvette

[Sounds like you may need a replacement optical drive ]

Replace cmos battery

Wow that's a bummer if it is soldered to the motherboard. Sounds like you will have to desolder the old one and resolder a new one. Good Luck

There's a slot for an SD card but there's nothing to connect the sd card to the computer

You insert the SD card into the slot. There should be nothing to connect. Usually there is a placeholder in the slot, and just push it in, and it will pop out.

Seaching for audio driver for toshiba Satellite A205-S5814

Once in a blue moon, the driver that works in Vista will work in XP. Try a forced install. You can also Google the model of the sound card (motherboard if the sound is integrated) and see if there is a XP driver that way. Good luck.
