I bought a new phone in May 2009. I can't seem to get it to hold a charge for very long. I took it back to Verizon. They asked me if I was using the Bluetooth feature, which I was. They told me it would eat up my battery by leaving it on because it was constantly searching for a signal. I have not had it on Bluetooth since then. However, the charge doesn't seem to last very long. I have to charge it every 2 days. My last phone only needed charging once a week. What is the problem? I heard something on the news about it but missed the story. Please advise.

Hey! My Sister has the same problem. T-Mobile said that it is the battery. There was a defect with some phone batteries. You can buy the samsung battery from T-Mobile for like 48$ of go to cellphoneshop.net to get it cheaper. works great and is cheaper to replace than 48$ samsung battery!!
turn the lights off in a room while the phone is on and see if you can see a light coming from the phone while it is closed and on.if you have a new battery did you let it fully charge before using.make sure the blue tooth is turned off.
I posted the fix to you on 6/13/2009. The fix was to replace the transistor in the charging path inside of the telephone. I had another phone that I had dropped and the display didn't work. The charging circuit still functioned. I took the transistor off the broken phone and put on new non-charging phone. It fixed just fine. Although I already posted the fix to this site, here it is again:
you bought it off ebay --your battery probable at fault but also depending on what you have -running or downloaded apps-photos -music will drain battery in stand by mode even if you replace battery if your usage is high [dont have to be on phone ] from what you have on it battery drain can be the same
YOu said it at the beginning, don't ever buy electronics from fingerhut. Their kitchen stuff is pretty good. But that's about it. Sorry dude. I've never gotten anything replaced through them. They always forgot it.
Let ur phone completely die. Don't charge it or anything when the low battery notice comes on. After it completely dies, put it on the charger only until it says charge complete. U might have to do it a few times to get ur battery performing as it should. If you charge ur battery too often, it causes ur battery to swell (weird I know) and your battery starts resisting charge. Hope this helps!! (I used to have the same phone and the same problem. I did this, and now my mom is using the phone and has an exceptional battery time)
Hi try this I had a new Blackberry which required charging every single day, take out battery and press and hold the on button on the phone for a min, then put battery back in and try charging again! mine is perfect now again.
Somebody told me that it's to do with static or something that builds up and flattens the batt.
