Question about GE Washing Machines

Model: WWA5600GAL WH Serial: FVI36041 G Problem: Water only comes out on the floor during Soak/Rinse period in the washing cycle. From Normal to Soak, it works fine. I have to skip the soak/Rinse section to avoid the leaking water. Please help! yongjia_ma@yahoo.com Thanks!

    Thanks Charlymonty!

My case is During Soak/Rinse only:

The filling water, washing clothes, even draining water are all fine. The leaking only happens during the spin cycle with Rinse. If I stop it to the end of draining water, and move the meter forward a little bit to skip the Rinse, then turn the washer on, it will continue to spin to dry out the clothes without leaking.

My question is: if there is a leak in the main drain hose, why doesn't it leak during draining water, which is right before the spin cycle with Rinse starts?

If it's the case, please instruct me more details on the things I need to check ...

    Thanks again,

    Mark

It sounds like something is blocking your washer from draining all of the water in 120 secnds. Start checking where the blockage might be in the hoses, pump areas.

Your washer can develop several types of leaks. You can track down a leak based on when it occurs:

During fill only
If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:
Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.
The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.
Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.
During Soak/Rinse only
A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.
All the time
If the washer leaks all the time, check these:
Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate.
Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.
Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.
Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub

while draining water pump in the washing machine is the area from where the water passes.and while spinning the motor in the machine throws the force of water to the hoses if the hose is got loose or cracked due to that force the water spills out and leaks.
so it only leaks while spin and rinse mode not in other modes.
but it will start later if the faulty parts are not checked and replaced.

Why is the SP light flashing when the machine has filled with water and is ready to go

sp is the code for stand by or pause
so if you have set a soak period then it will stay there until the soak period has finished
if it is sp and you have pressed pause/start extra time the machine is in pause mode until you press start again

Keeps filling up with water randomly during a cycle

Remember sometimes there is a rinse and soak that happens in some models, and if everything is running normal then all your getting is the occassional water release during certain cycles.

Hi-Temp Wash, Hi-Temp Rinse, or Sanitize options.
Some models have options that may require a water heating delay, such as Hi-Temp Wash, Hi-Temp Rinse, or Sanitize. Additional time may be required to heat the water to the proper temperature. The dishwasher will continue to circulate water during this heating delay but the timer will not advance until the proper temperature is reached

I have exactly the same problem. I am currently getting around the issue by letting the machine do the washing then at the end of that cycle do a manual rinse cycle.

KENMORE ELITE TOP LOAD

Washer stops, won't fill, rinse or agitate

• Check the following:
Is the power cord plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet?
Is the indicator on the Cycle Control knob properly lined up
with a cycle? Turn the Cycle Control knob to the right slightly
and pull to start.
Are the water inlet valve screens clogged?
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on?
Is the water inlet hose kinked?

• Does the water level seem too low, or does the washer
appear to not fill completely? The top of the agitator is
much higher than the highest water level. This is normal and
necessary for clothes to move freely.
• Has a fuse blown or is the circuit breaker open? If problem
continues, call an electrician.
• Are you using an extension cord? Do not use an extension
cord.
• Is the washer in a normal pause in the cycle? The washer
pauses for about 2 minutes during certain cycles. Allow the
cycle to continue. Some cycles feature periods of agitation
and soak.
• Is the washer overloaded? Wash smaller loads.
• Is the lid open? The lid must be closed during operation.
Washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open.

Washing machine

If water is leaking only during the times when it is supposed to be coming in , then the first places to check are at the hose connections and the hoses themselves. If it continues to leak after the water stops coming in , then you have to look at the drain connection and finally at the drum seal.
