Question about Refrigerators
The compressor has 3 or 4 internal motor support springs . Over time , one can rust , due to the contaminates in the refrigerant system . One of them can break free , which will not cause any damage , other than a clunk , when the compressor cuts off . You can still have many years of correct cooling , only the noise will be present .

Its getting close to the grave yard by now then?
this noise is likley to be the compressor stopping and being a bit of a grand daddy it kind or knocks a little,
lets face it,, its 12 years old? you must have had your moneys worth out of it by now??? so if it knocks a bit,, its earned it dont you think?
