Why does the channel change when I key the mike?

wrong mike is plugged to radio , many radios have the option to change the channels via two buttons on mike , unfortunately the mike connectors are pretty standard so they all hook right in easy , but that doesn't mean it's making the right connections inside , a good radio shop (there are still a few around if you look 4 them) will be able to rewire your mike to work on that radio if that's what u want to run

Cb troubleshooting

Sounds Like a wire is broken on the mic connector. Disassemble the microphone plug and check the connections. Also There is a relay inside the 139XLR that is quite old by now and could possibly be worn out or dirty.

HOw to VOX

If you are following the instructions and still it seems not to work, perhaps you are not talking loudly enough above the threshold trigger level and you need to speak up or speak closer to the mike.. If that doesn't work. Have the sets looked at.

FT-890AT yaesu transceiver has distorted transmit audio

Hi Ronald,

Could the problem be related by having the mike to close to your mouth? This is the most common cause of over-modulation/ distortion from the transmission end.

If you have the mike 3-6 inches from the mouth and speak in an even non loud tone, that would help sort that out. If this is not the source of the over modulation/distortion, then you may have a transmitter issue, which would require the unit to be serviced by a qualified radio technician or ham radio operator, if you know one willing to look at it for you.

I hope that this has helped you.

Cheers,
Peter

Everytime i try to speak to someone they here a screeching noise at there end and cant make out what im saying, but i can here them ok at my end, ive changed mics so i no its not that, would it be my ariel...

Make sure that you are both on FM or USB If the modulation is not the same then you have a bad communication. If you hit the mike and they get a santia 9+ then the arial cannot be the issue

I assume that you have tested it with a mike that was supplied with the cb?

good luck

Galaxy DX99V

The RK56 was a good mike until Telex bought out Turner many years ago. Now the audio output is lower than it used to be & it's not a compatibility issue as Galaxy radios have microphone amplifier circuits similar to most other CB & 10-Meter radios. You'd have been better off buying an Astatic 636L or even a generic noise-cancelling mike instead. The only thing I can recommend is to hold the mike on your cheek, close to but not directly in front of your mouth, with the grille facing it & speak in a louder than usual voice.
