Dell firmware to Seagate SAS

The firmware for any electronics device tells the hardware how to properly function.

Most devices rarely need a firmware upgrade, however, computer products such as a Seagate hard drive need to have the firmware updated periodically due to computers constantly going through operating system upgrades.

Luckily, you can update your Seagate hard drive firmware with an Internet connection and a few clicks of your mouse.

Connect your Seagate hard drive to your computer if the hard drive is external.

Launch your Internet browser and navigate to the website.

When the site loads click the "Downloads" button.

Click on the hard drive listing you currently own.

This brings up all of the most current downloads for your Seagate hard drive.

The listings of the hard drives have the image, so match your hard drive to the image online if you are not sure what drive you have.

The user manual states what hard drive you currently own also.

If you don't have your owners manual, open "My Computer" (or "Computer") and right-click the hard drive icon and select "Properties."

Here the computer states exactly what model of hard drive you have.

Click the Firmware update and click the "Download" button to launch the download.

Click-and-drag the file into the hard drive if you are using an external hard drive

(open "My Computer," then double-click the removable hard drive icon).

Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install the updated firmware.

Hope this helps

What kind of enclosure and cable do I need to make my drive exter

This drive is an IDE/ATA hard drive.
To use this as an external hard drive, I suggest you purchase an USB hard drive adapter case (with an USB cable) and install the hard drive into this case.
When you plug this adapter into the USB port of a computer, the computer will see this as an external hard drive.

When a computer hard drive does not turn what does it mean - monitor waits than turns off

Your hard drive may be broken, your cable might be no good, your power connection might be bad, the motherboard connection for the hard drive might be bad, or you may have a software error on the hard drive. The only way to check any of this is to swap parts. If you have another hard drive cable switch it out and see what happens. Do the same with your power connection and the hard drive itself. Depending on what your Operating System is you might be able to try and boot from your install CD to try and repair your installation.

Acer Aspire 5100-3583

What size drive is in it now? The user manual should tell you what size drive it can use. If you are not sure, the best thing to do is to go back with the same size. The brand does not matter. Is your hard drive IDE or SATA? What is the model of your laptop?

I can't find my pictures on my external hard drive

What type of external drive do you have and what are you using to perform the synchronization? What type of sync schedule are you on? Is it time based, or upon connection or other activity? Have you change your folder arrangement or relocated the pictures on the source drive?
