Question about GE Ovens

2 Answers

I have a GE oven M# PGS908SEM1SS, serial # SM230987Q The lady was self cleaning and very shortly into the process the oven and stove top both died. I took apart the oven, and I found that p# WB24T10140, ( which is similar to a non resettable thermal fuse) was no good. Before I change it I wan't to know if there is a reason this would go bad. The cooling down fan motor is OK.

The most common reason for it to go bad is due to the act of self cleaning. the immense amount of heat generated during this procedure is too much for an older thermal fuse to take.

Hi.

The WB24T10140 is an high limit switch that will cutoff when temperature is too high.

Allow the high limit to cool down. Read Ohms on the part. If it still has no continuity( infinite Ohms) then the high limit has blown and must be replaced.

The reason why the high limit has blown is the high temperature generated in the self cleaning cycle.
Self cleaning generates high temperatures to clean the oven. Sometimes this can damage parts as thermal cutoff/high limit, probe, or even control board wiring.

Here all parts and diagram for your oven.

Here one of the cheapest sellers at $40.

Please do not forget to leave feedback.

Regards.

G.

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

I have a problem with the control panel on my GE Electric oven.

Sounds like you have a control board issue. It should give you some kind of code instead of nothing. You can order a new one if you want but they are about $200 and up plus shipping.

Ge oven control panel problem

Sounds like a control board issue. Check to see if that particular gives any error codes if you can. FYI a new board is probably about 200 bucks.

Have a GE Electric Cook Top oven with digital

Unplug the stove. plug back in and program a short clean cycle. If this does not fix it is eithe the selector switch or the electronic control. Verifying the switch contacts with a meter is the only way to be sure.

Oven will not get out of the self-cleaning mode

Ok, unplug the unit for 5 minutes to reset the main circuit board. if the error continues to plague the unit, replace the control board.

Oven does not heat. Broiler and stove work. NO gas smell.

could be the oven thermostat, get a plumber/heating engineer out, but make sure you can trust him, cause he could try and say u need a new cooker when it MIGHT only be a new oven thermostat.

Oven

Neal, the only thing I can bring up with that model number is a built in wall oven. You said the top burners work fine, so we are missing something here. Sounds to me like a stuck or shorted keypad. Catriver..post back
