I am trying to scan a document to my comp. When I open hp solution center, it says no device found and closes. I can print documents from my three in one HP printer, so I am not sure what is going on.

Scanner not found on computer


Try un-installing your 8500 related software, re-boot and re-install from disk.
If you don't have the installation disk go to:-

On the screen" no scan option-refer to device


Check whether the Digital Imaging Monitor is running .

If yes, good.

Now, please open HP Solution Center and setup the destination list .

Double click >> HP Solution Center >> settings >> scan settings and preferences >> scan to .. setup >>
Add all the entries from " available scan destinations " to "front panel destination list " >> click >> ok .
Now, try to scan from the front panel of the All-in-One .

Refer to device documentation to trouble shoot


you need to set up your scan to option.
this can be done from the hp software
open solution center click settings then scan settings
from there select scan to set up
a window will open and then click on front panel destination list
once again a window will open with a double pane on the left side is your short cut options click on them one at a time click add then once satisfied with options click update the device or ok
if it fails to update reset the printer and try those steps again, or re install just the drivers
if the same message appears then check the settings on your firewall

When trying to scan to my HP J4580 Officejet J4580 All-in-One printer it says "No scan options, refer to device documentation". What does this mean?


It means you need the HP scanning software running on your computer. The computer tells the scanner how to scan, what to scan and where to save the image after scanning. The scanner has no options until received from your computer.

Scanning Multiple Pages to a PDF Doesn't Consistently Work


open the HP scan center. there you can find some scan settings. choose fromthe drop down list accordingly, so that all the scanned documetns will be stored into a single PDF file. Then hit scan now button to go on. Try using the automatic document feeder to load the device with documetns to scan rather than opening and closing the device lid to scan. Try ths:
This happens mainly when you try to scan from the printer ;
Always try to scan from HP solution center but still here is the resolution:
Open Hp Solution center
Click on Settings
Click on scn settings
click on Scan to Setup
Select all the option available to updrade the Front panel menu list and click on ADD
Click on Update;
Restart the computer and the printer and try to scan.
It should resolve the issue.

Can not scan to computer


hi,

below are the steps that i want you to follow. The "NO SCAN OPTIONS" refer to the absence of options when you try to scan using the printer button your printer. However, if you are going to scan from the SOlution center installed in your computer, it will scan without any problem.

Step two: Populate the destination list The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
  1. Open the HP Solution Center. Use one of the following methods to open the HP Solution Center.
    • On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
    • On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
    If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
  4. Click Scan to... Setup .
  5. Click the Destination List tab.
    NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.
  6. If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure. If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
  7. Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
  8. Click the Add arrow.
  9. Click OK .
  10. Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
  11. If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button. If the scan still fails, please let me know.

Cannot edit scanned document


Hi,

its like this, the OCR or the SOftware installed in your computer is limited. If you're trying to scan a document which has a picture or with text that uses different fonts like monotype, or those that are not usually being use for normal documents, usually it wouldnt detect and it become distorted. Anyways, here are the steps that i want you to follow.

1. Open solution center. (click start, go to all programs, go to HP, then click on SOLUTION CENTER). or you can see SOlution Center on your Desktop.
2. Click on Scan Documents, then the Scan documents setting will open. Change the settings to these.
* SCAN TO: Microsoft Word.
3. Then, hit scan.
4. After scanning, the folder My Scans will open automatically, just go ahead and open the scanned document.
5. From there, you can start editing the text.

..remember, the scan a document is limited, it will not read all types of fonts. if the document is using a "times new roman" or "arial" the scanned document appears to be almost the same with the original. But, if the scanned document contains pictures or stylish fonts, that would make the document distorted.

Can't Scan!!


This is becasue microsoft hasnt gotten enough complaints to make an update yet, and HP cant go messing with windows programming because its not there job to fix Windows, only HP stuff. So bassically you will have to wait for either one to make a patch or fix. Im betting HP will mae one first and Microsoft will include it in ther updates later on.

This is common with new OS's off the shelf, give it a year.
