Hi I have a Hl-s5679w led-dlp and it just started turn on and off, I have been reading online and the solution keeps coming back to under-sized capacitors, now to my question Would I be able to upgrade the...

Yes you would. On the power supply board under the heat sink. Do not upgrade the UF but you can upgrade the volts so if the caps say 10v 2200uf go to the 16v 2200uf and always make sure they are 105c degrees.

Why does mt tv click before it turns on?

Hi:
There are some capacitors that needs replacing on the power supply. Usually there a two to four of them. They will be buldging or puffy on their tops, replace with same value listed on the cap but raise the voltage rating to 16 volts.. Example a capacitor with A value on it like 2200uf 10v, change to 2200uf 16Volts.

Broken LCD Backlight

dtoreilly, You will need to check all the Electrolytic Capacitors. Here is what I found. I measured some units on a Stanford Research Systems SR720 LCR meter. Units are CAPXON #1 2200uf @ 16v now 119uf
#2 2200uf @ 10v now 48.8uf
#3 2200uf @ 10v now 10.8uf
#4 2200uf @ 10v now 136uf
#5 2200uf @ 10v now 29uf
Yes their tops were only minimly bulging also. So I guess it really dosen't matter very much if they are only swollen a little bit!!!! I'll let you interpret the DATA I have presented here. I know one thing though-- If I were mass-producing anything that needed low voltage filter capacitors on the printed circuit board--- They certainly wouldn't be made by CAPXON!! Bye for now I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

Samsung model lnt5271f cycles on and off 7 times when turned on

Im writing this as a public service announcement. Im seeing more and more of these posts, and I thought I would let everone know my experience.

Samsung televisions (and a few other brands) built in mid to late 2007 had a bad batch of capacitors from China. Two of these 10 volt capacitors were installed on their power boards.

When these capacitors blow, they dont hold enough juce to turn the TV on. However they tend to blow slowly. People experiencing this problem, will see thier TV taking longer to turn on, Then it will cycle off and on a few times before finnaly turning on. And lastly, when the capacitors completely blow, the TV will not turn on at all.

The capacitors are cheap, about 50 cents each. People were origonally repairing these themselves because their sets are out of warranty. It is chepaer to solder in new capacitors, because a new power board costs around $150.

However as of Feburary 2010, Samsung has recognised this as a global problem to their sets. If you call 1-800-SAMSUNG, they will set up a service technitian to come to your house and solder in shiny new 25v capacitors. They will not charge you for this, even if your TV is out of warranty. Mine was 17 months old (well out of the 12 month standard warranty).

Its a cheap fix for Samsung, and much cheaper than buying a new TV.

I would suggest registering your TV on the samsung website if not allready, waiting a day, and then calling 1-800 samsung.

They should take care of it. They have a Service Level Agreement that you should have an appointment scheduled within 48 hours of your call. In fact. I called Samsung on a Sunday, and the technitian was there by monday morning (he had a free slot), so I was very pleased with my customer experience.

Stinks that it happend, but at least its being fixed.

LCD turns off\on repair

The capacitors are located near the bottom right side heatsink if you check the link below. I'm sure a few of them might be bulging on top but you can replace the 2200uF/10v as well.

Need to replace capacitor on dvd player

Hi, you should use a capacitor with same capacitance of 1000uF, but you don't have to stick to the original voltage spec. 1000uF 10V means it can withstand 10V load. 1000uF 50V means it can hold 50V for the same capacitance. Today I fixed my friend's and for that I used 1000uF 35V from RadioShack. It perfectly works - and it's better. But you shouldn't use 1000uF 5V - by now you already know that :)

Westinghouse sk19h210s won't power on. service

I just fixed a neighbor's by replacing the 2200MFD capacitor on the power supply board. Thanks for the help, worked great. If you replace it got for a 16V instead of the 10V and hopefully it won't fail that way again.

Just be careful and take notes when you're digging into it. And mark exactly where the card cage is before taking it loose.
