Question about System Power Supplies

Looking for a smaller fit 14cmX15cmX8.6cm power supply (ATX 12v)

My google searching powers are failing me as no one seems to care about physical dimensions of power supplies. 250-350 Watt is fine - is this a standardized size? Appreciate a new search term or link to buy! Was hoping to spend less than $50.

It looks like a standard size case. Any power supply should fit. I doubt you'll find anything under 400 watts nowadays.

Heres a place with great prices on power supplies.. the prices jump around, so browse slowly:

NO NO NO... PC power supplies are switching supply's. The transformers use high voltage to drive other components. Increasing the power out of the supply will require you to upgrade the power supply to a higher wattage output.

Dell ATX(12v) power supply

The fact that it is made by Dell is irrelivent.

ATX is a standard and so are 20 and 24 pin motheroboard connectors.

You should find what you need by searching for: power supply unit on Wikipedia and Google.

Good luck!

Pc power supply 20 + 4 sata 400watt if i plug the mains lead into it with out it being pluged into the motherboard will the fan in the power supply work ?

No it needs to be plugged into the moterboard for the switch wire to turn the fan on. if your looking to have the fan run while the power to the pc is off you'll have to mod the power supply, there are loads of websites that can help with this be carefull tho power supplys hold a lot of power for a long time after they've been turned off and unplugged.

No, given your old PSU's dimensions the HEC PSU would be too large. It sounds like you have a micro-ATX case.

Want to upgrade power supply to be compatible with my computer

This is a common misconception about pwr supplies. What is important are the connectors (type and number). The simplest way is to remove the power supply and match the mother board connectors(the 2 different ones) and the number of pin connectors you need for the drives. I could not find a picture of the mother board to tell you which ones will fit but if you have a used computer dealer in your area he can. The physical match up is what is important as the pin outs are tech standard. Hope this helps.

Upgrade for Bestec ATX-1956D (HP p/n: 0950-4106)

How about the LC Power LC350M Micro ATX - 380 Watt

or the

Logisys 350W Micro ATX

They should fit your form factor and output as much as 350W being relatively cheap, but neither gets 18 amps on 12V rail...
I think no power supply of that size has an output like that...think about a cheap but substancial chassis upgrade if you need that power...Have a look at directron for the PSUs.

Missing -5VDC and -12VDC

Could be.Some do some don't.Some have a circuit breaker. Take the cover off and check. Be careful though as some parts in the power supply can hold a pretty significant charge for quite a while even after the power supply is turned off.If there is no fuse or if you change the fuse and it blows again I would say a new power supply is in order. Good luck.
