Charging hi i opened my brand new archos 605 wifi and turned it on streigth away without reading the instructions. now i no you are supposed to fully charge it before turning it on. now when i fully charge the battery it dies within like 30 mins. have i broke it? is there any way to fix this? plz help me

same thing mate i turned it on as soon as i opened the box, and i have charged it for 20h but it omly lasts for 30m

I have mine now andi only get 10 seconds max from like30h chargeing time,and yes the chargeing light flashs to show it is fully charged

I think there is a fundamental problem with the battery on more recent versions of the Archos media player. I too had similar problems and returned my player after a few days. Battery life was 2.5 hrs max. My replacement player has exactly the same problem. I have now purchased a stand alone charger from Maplin which has reduced charging times to a few hours but battery life is no better

Look i have the same problem it taks so mush time to charge
it and you can onliy play with it like in a 1:00 hour only what it worng

New Archos 605 can't charge

If you are charging it only through the usb be aware that it can take up to 10hrs to charge. If you are using a dock it takes 3-4hours. When it is is charging the green light on the side should be solid. It will blink when fully charged. If it falls outside of the above described please exchange it at the location you bought it if possible or contact archos for further assistance.

Archos 605 wifi broken screen

I have a similar problem. I received my Archos 605 two weeks ago and thought the product was awesome. However, I had to call customer service for the plug-ins I was supposed to receive free. I was dropped twice after waiting for 12 - 15 minutes each time. On my third call, I finally received customer service after waiting an additional 12 minutes. The woman was very nice where she finally got me 6 of the 7 the rebate specified.

Today, 09/14/09, I had to call Archos for the broken screen which was a 20 minute wait. It is NOT under warranty and will cost me $155.00 plus shipping. I paid $154.99 total for the unit brand new.

Customer service stated sorry. DO NOT PURCHASE AN ARCHOS -- BY A IPOD. I HAVE LEARNED!

I think the Archos 605 has a 2gb file limit, so the only option would be to split the avi.
Search on Google for an avi splitter - there are some free ones out there.

Hi have you got your power supply plugged into the charging platform??, It would appear you have insufficient charge in the batteries on the 605.
If you have the USB lead plugged into the charging cradle this would normally ask you to select either charge or usb.
What does the CHG. light on top of the 605 do when you plug the unit into the cradle ?? (steady green-- charging. flashing green-- fully charged)

Hi if the unit has been on charge that long it should be fully charged.
With charging supply connected what is the (CHG) green led doing. (on top of 605) Flashing---fully charged. Steady---charging.

605 wifi won't start

Hi,

I was having a similar problem where my 160 gb Archos 605 would not hold a charge even after two days of being plugged in through an AC wall adapter. It worked fine for 5 months without a problem, but then all of the sudden it would not hold a charge even if the LED light was blinking green.

One thing that I found that makes it now hold a charge now is by letting is by plugging it in to a computer. I don't know why, but for some reason, now when I charge it through a computer usb as opposed to the wall adapter, it charges and holds a chrage for over 3 hours. So, maybe try to just let the thing charge through a computer.
