I know on computers there is a very small hole in the front door of the player. You can use a straightened out paperclip and push it into the hole and it should open the door.

How do I remove a stuck DVD?

It sounds like your problem isn't the dvd is stuck, since it seems to be spinning up, it sounds more like your ejection system has stopped working for some reason.
To fix either you are going to have to remove the outside case of the dvd player and expose the internal chassis. There are anywhere from 4 to 8 screws holding it on on the bottom and back of the unit, Make sure the dvd player is unplugged before you remove the cover.
Once you have the cover off, if the dvd is simply stuck, you should be able to see what the issue is; is it misaligned in the housing was it inserted incorrectly, are there in fact 2 dvds in the player, etc, etc. Gently remove the dvd and replace the case and enjoy.
If you can't see any reason for it to be stuck it may be the ejection system. The eject system will have a belt and sprocket system to move the tray or push out the dvd depending on the player. Make sure the belt is on the wheels correctly and that the sprockets mesh properly. If you can't see anything wrong try testing the ejection system with the case off.
Make sure you don't have any objects in or touching the dvd player, you don't want to short out any of the components if a screw fell into the dvd player onto the mother board, etc. Plug the dvd player back in, make sure you don't touch the inside and try to eject the dvd. Watch the ejection system and you should be able to figure out what is going wrong. Once you have figured it out unplug the unit and put the items back together. If you can see that something is broken then you will have to determine if you can have it fixed or if it wouldn't be cheaper to simply ditch that unit and purchase a new one.
Hope this helps.

Most CD\DVD devices have a manual "eject" pin hole near the front of the door that a paper clip would fit into.

Be sure the device is unplugged before attempting....

Dvd stuck in unit

Look at the door of the player. There should be a small hole on the door. stick the end of a paper clip into the hole and that should release the door. Kind of how you would open a locked bedroom door lock.

Cannot play DVD and stuck CD in the system! how

Most Philips DVD player and recorders have a manual release on the bottom of the unit look for a slotted hole on the bottom put a small screw driver in the slot and slide across this will release the tray.

Some older models have the paperclip hole like on all PC DVD-ROMS this will also release the tray if you have it
