Try the Following steps:-
1)first of all to go online on any laptop we need the wireless setting's . If you are not aware then create one by using any pc which has the internet access wired or wireless from the router and open the IE or browser window and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net/ ,
2)A small window will prompt up which will ask you to type the user name and password which will be
user name:-admin
password:-password
and then left click on log-in.
Once you will left click on log-in it will navigate you to the router's administrator page.
3)On the left hand side you will have the blue/purple column in their under the category you set-up you will see a sub-title wireless setting's, left click on that option and then do the setting's.This link will guide you how to do that:-
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/112/related/1

On MAC:-
1)Click on the apple icon on the left hand side of the start screen and go to system preferences.
2)Under system preferences a category name internet and network select the title network from there.
3)Under Network you will have an option for airport to turn it ON so do that and then below you will see list of networks available , from that list select the network you created , enter the password if it's secure one and you will be good to go from ther on and will have an internet access.

Lost wireless connection

  1. Follow these steps to configure Linksys WRT160N wireless router.

Open Internet Explorer, it does not matter if you see error message such as "The page can not be displayed" . now erase everything on the address bar and type in this IP address: 192.168.1.1 or the full address: http://192.168.1.1
This is the default IP address for the router set by Linksys.
  2. 2 Hit the Enter key on your keyboard to connect to the router's web admin control panel. You will be prompted a login window for the username and password: the default admin username is "admin" and the default admin password is "password". If you can't connect to this admin control panel, you will need to change the IP address on your modem, maybe your modem is using the same IP 192.168.1.1 also, just unplug the router from your modem, and hook up your computer directly to the modem and fire up the web browser and enter the IP 192.168.1.1 and follow the on screen direction to get in.
  3. 3 It will then ask you to change password, then you make up a password that is meaningful for you to remember. You will need to write down the username and password for future reference because I am sure you will forget. You will need to reset the router if you forget the router password, and that will erase everything saved inside the router setting.
  4. 4 After successfully login, you will be in the Basic Setup of your Linksys WRT160 wireless router. You also might need to clone the Mac Address if you are using Cable Broadband (Comcast), to do this go to Mac address clone -> Enable, then clone my computers Mac.
  5. 5 If you are using Verizon, you might need to change the Internet Connection Type to PPPoE and enter your username and password that is created by Verizon.
  6. 6 I think many of you concern more on the Wireless secrutiy. Click the Wireless tab and enable the wireless security, you will need to choose a type of security encryption, WEP is weaker, you will need to type 10 characters for the pass code. The WPA or WPA2 is much stronger that it takes passphrase. For more security on wireless connection, you can also try to use MAC authentication, each of your laptop or wireless card has unique MAC address, you find out the MAC address on your laptop then enter it into your router so only this laptop can have access to the wireless connection.

when sharing internet connection, it's all about sequence when turning it on... Sequence in regard to what's turned on first, second etc... Here's the solution:
1. Turn everything off... modem, router...computers etc..
2. Turn on the wireless router FIRST and let it boot up.
3. Then turn on the modem and let it cycle up...
This allows your modem to lock onto the wifi router.
4. Turn everything else back on...
You should be good to go without drop outs...

If the power goes out, simply follow this sequence...
It's all about the sequence!!

Dlink wireless wbr1310 connection problem

Try this,

Shut down everything starting with your computer, then the router, then the modem.
Wait 30 seconds. Restart everything in this order:
Modem first (wait for all the lights to come on) then start your router (again wait till everything lights up and settles down) finally start up you computer.
Check to see if you can connect to the routers control panel which is usually 192.168.2.1.

In the control panel there should be a place to enter your computers MAC address, usually under MAC Address Filtering. To find the Mac Address of your computer, go to Start/Run/ when the window opens type CMD and hit enter.
A Dos window should open, type in the following. ipconfig -all
It should then display your Mac Address which you will want to write down so that you have it ready to type into the Mac Address filter .

After entering all the info. Restart everything just as I instructed in the beginning and you should be good to go.

Cannot get hardwired computer to connect through modem

Is your laptop setup with dynamic IP or static IP? Could it be that the IP scope doesn't match now on it? You could also try running ipconfig /flushdns to make sure there aren't stale entries.

Does the link on the back of your laptop light up green when connected to the router and does the proper green light show up on the router too?

I cannot connect with linksys wireless router

From your description, you appear to be connected to the router fine.

Try powering down the modem from Comcast for about 2 minutes then power it back up. If it doesn't come back, call Comcast service as it is likely on their end.

Hope this helps.

Internet wireless connectivity

This is a common and annoying problem. Your router is running and connected, but they are either not using the same encryption keys or else you have some other setting incorrect (encryption type is a common one).

Turn off the laptop's wireless connection and enable its cable (wired) connection. Connect the laptop to the back of the router physically with a network cable. In a browser type 192.168.1.1 (or other similar number - check your router's quick start guide). Log into the router and go to the WIRELESS SETTINGS. Write down everything you see (channel, station ID, encryption type and key, and whether MAC ADDRESS LOCKING is on (if it is turn it off for now)). Take these settings, reverse the process on your laptop and try to connect wirelessly with the new settings. They have to be exactly the same

If it all works, you need to go back into the router and enable MAC ADDRESS LOCKING after giving it your laptop's MAC ADDRESS, enable the highest standard encryption both the router and the laptop support, and turn off station ID broadcasting if possible.

If you still cannot connect wirelessly, connect again through the wire connection, and turn off encryption, turn off MAC ADDRESS LOCKING, and try again.

Good luck...
