Re: My cd's won't play in my car

You must burn them as an audio CD (not data) and ensure the disc is finalised.

Burned cd will only play on my computer. How do I get it to play other places

It depends what setting you used to burn the disc. Some will only play on certain players. Many people don't also have the right CODECS to play video files with their media players. But they can download CODEC packs from the internet for free.

You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs ...does this mean.. to burn the cd onto the computer?

Hello, to Rip a CD to your computer means to convert the audio on the CD into a format that your computer can play, such as mp3 or wma. Windows media player can rip CDs to both formats and stores them in your music folder. Just insert your CD and the option to rip should pop up.
To Burn a CD means the reverse, to transfer music files from your computer to a CD. Media player does this a well, just click the Burn tab to begin.
Thanks for asking, and using FixYa

I want to burn music from MP3 Rocket. It is downloaded but cannot find ANY info on the steps to burn onto CDs.

Open the music you want to burn in Windows Media player... at the top you will find an option to burn the files to disc - this will create an Audio disc that can be played in any CD player.

If you want to back up the Mp3s as data files you should simply insert an empty CD a window will pop up asking you what you want to do - select add files to CD (burn data CD) and then select the MP3s you want to burn... these files will not play on normal CD players.

If this helped you then please help me and vote kindly.

Burned DVDs play on PC but won't play on home player. I have 3 PC (2HPs and 1 Parts built),running XP home, pro, media. I bought 2 Samsung SH-S182 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner, and have tried them on all 3...

Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.

If you burn it with a DVD-R player then you would need A DVD-R disk. the same thing with DVD+R. A CD-R only works with a CD-ROM, make sure you have a DVD Rewriter in your computer before you burn to a DVD. There is a DVD rewritible disk you can get to rewrite over on the same DVD each time. and you can get a DVD double read, that can write to DVD-R and DVD+R, these are better to have, you dont have to have one or the other, each will work great. Please give a fixya. Thanks, Farren

What is meant by "Burning" is that in the CD/DVD There is a "Head" inside which is a "Solid State Laser Beam Generator" this "Beam" is then "Modulated" by the "Recording" (Burning) software in such a way that it causes an actual "Burnt Area" to be formed on the "Substrate" of the CD/DVD "Medium". This "Area" is then able to B "Read" via another laser & using the "Reflected Light" is "Sensed" by a "Detector" area in the Laser "Head" that translates the resultant signal, when played back.. So really the word "Burn" is just a "catch phrase" to indicate the "Recording" proceedure of data transfer on a CD/DVD.
