Go to setup turn on the USB 1.1
The USB port is turned off for security reasons;
You may consider adding a 4 port USB 2.0 adaptor card my server has Both I use the onboard USB 1.1 for external hard drive and mouse

If you have a PCI slot open and the correct drivers for your OS then, yes, it looks like it should work. Network cards are usually pretty easy to install; I don't ever recall having a problem with one as long as they were in the right slot and I had the right drivers (they should come with the card). Graphics cards can be Hell on Earth but network cards are usually pretty straight forward.

I can't get my usb devices to work on my dell 4600 series pc. It won't reconise anything I try to plug in to the usb ports.

Try deleting your usb drivers.

Right-click My Computer
Manage
Device Manager
USB Controllers
Delete (Generic USB Hub)
Restart computer
(Windows will auto-install the drivers, on reboot)

Plug your device back in, and see i've it works.

How do I replace a 73Gb disk in a RAID 5 config - DELL PE 4600

That depends on your configuration.
If the drive you want to change is installed in the peripheral bay, you have to turn the machine off before you can pull that drive out. Also: Hot-plug drive installation is not supported for systems without an integrated RAID controller or host adapter expansion card!

Look for more details on how to change a drive here.

Does Dell PowerEdge 4600 Server support DVD ROM

I am working on one of these now and yes, it should boot from DVDROM. Be aware that it is a notebook style drive and there are no onboard IDE or SATA controllers, so once the drive dies you're in for a wallet hit. Same goes for the floppy drive which is integrated with the DVDROM. Even worse, the presence of the broken floppy usually means a USB floppy drive won't help when loading windows drivers at install time.

My Dell PowerEdge 2500 has 2 configurable com ports which are setup as Com1 IRQ-4, and Com2 IRQ-3. My problem is that everything seems to say that they are there and active, but my software only can talk...

That "in-op" COM port is in fact, probably defective. Had many cases where 1 works/1 doesn't. Buy a cheap, PCI COM port board, install the software, and plug away!

gurutim
