Stopped working and squealing sound

I used my tv this morning and when I tried to turn in on it seemed like it was going to turn on, then he picture went out, sound went out and began a high pitched squealing sound that wouldn't stop unless I unplugged it. Is this an easy fix?

Periodicly my RCA 32" flat screen TV will start a low screeching noise, which grows louder and louder. Then there is no sound. The only thing that has worked, so far, is to unplug from the wall electrical receptacle. It's irritating, especially in the middle of a program I'm watching. Only had this TV for a few months, so what's with that??? Also the volume seems to fluctuate of it's own accord. NEED HELP. Thanks.

Your set is shorted circuit condition. The power supply is making the noise. Unfortunately almost any of the hi current circuits will do this. If picture went out 1st look for video or hi voltage problems.

Why would tv sound work fine but while using roku 2 the sound suddenly stopped working?

If the picture is OK then check your sound cables, red and white if analog, or swap out the HDMI cable with one that you know works.
Also, on the SETTINGS screen make sure your audio is set to stereo not surround sound.

Phililips 50 dlp does nothing but the sound. then the red light comes on. changed the bulb but it does the same thing. what is the next step.

Hello, it sounds like one of the cooling fans has stopped in it, sometimes the get clogged up with dust so bad they can't turn causing the set to go into shutdown or a fan has gone bad. try cleaning the fans, bur DO NOT USE CANNED OR COMPRESSED AIR!, use a vacuum and a small paint brush to clean them out. The other thing is listen for a squealing sound, if the color wheel is going bad the usually squeal a bit, but if the picture is normal looking for the time it's on, that shouldn't be the problem.....tks

My tv stopped working but makes a clicking noise sometimes, what do I do?

Good morning to you
You have checked that all cables and connectionns are in their right place. And that there is no disturbance from another electonic device.

If the remote controle is still working try going in on MENU and and try SET-UP again. I would start with the PICTUR and the SOUND,
Good luck

Speakers stopped working

Is it connected to a stereo or are you using hdmi? The reason I ask is that sometimes when there is no sound it could be due to a loose cable particularly when it comes to using optical cables. Have you tried unplugging all your external sound equipment including cable / satellite tv leaving the tv unit free from any external sources? If it then does not work (and the mute button is not on) then it is definately an issue with the tv. More often than not it is due to old cables or a loose cable. If the tv works then add in each extra thing like dvd player one at a time. If the sound goes you know it is the cable for that particular item etc.

DOES THE TV SEEM TO BE CYCLING ON AND OFF, BUT NEVER COMES ON? WHAT I MEAN IS DOES IT SEEM TO BE TRYING TO COME ON, BUT SHUTS DOWN IMMEDIATELY CONTINUOSLY AND WILL ONLY STOP CYCLING THIS WAY UNTIL IT'S UNPLUGGED? DOES IT MAKE A SQUEAKING SOUND FROM BEHIND THE SET WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING?

yes it could ba the cable itself even, but i suspect more the tuner circuit or tuner itself may have bad solder connections. Here is another test for you to try, plug another dvd or vcr, or xbox etc. into the back, using one odf the inputs. See if this works like the built in dvd. if so it will be more likely bad connections in the tuner or surrounding circuit. good luck.
