Stopped working and squealing sound

I used my tv this morning and when I tried to turn in on it seemed like it was going to turn on, then he picture went out, sound went out and began a high pitched squealing sound that wouldn't stop unless I unplugged it. Is this an easy fix?

Re: Stopped working and squealing sound

Your set is shorted circuit condition. The power supply is making the noise. Unfortunately almost any of the hi current circuits will do this. If picture went out 1st look for video or hi voltage problems.

Speakers stopped working

Is it connected to a stereo or are you using hdmi? The reason I ask is that sometimes when there is no sound it could be due to a loose cable particularly when it comes to using optical cables. Have you tried unplugging all your external sound equipment including cable / satellite tv leaving the tv unit free from any external sources? If it then does not work (and the mute button is not on) then it is definately an issue with the tv. More often than not it is due to old cables or a loose cable. If the tv works then add in each extra thing like dvd player one at a time. If the sound goes you know it is the cable for that particular item etc.

After tv is on for approx 20-30 mins it starts to make a loud high pitched squeal or whine. once turned off for approx 10-15 mins can turn it back on for another 20-30 mins before squeal will return....

Sounds like a problem I had with a Polaroid t.v. Take the cover off the back and look for capactors that are buldging on the top. The top should be slightly concave. If they are convex at all, you can buy new one at Radio Shack and replace them for under $5.00

I have an RCA G36710 tv and there is no picture and it squeals

its in the horizontal circuitry, sounds like an electrolytic capacitor has changed value and thrown frequency off far enough to disable the t.v.

A couple weeks ago, the tv would show a dark screen with some horizontal stripes moving across it faintly (but had sound) before it performed normally. Then recently the red on lamp didn't work, and it...

This is a tricky one. Right off hand I would say that it has a power supply problem. Possibly a bad capacitor. Other than that it would have to go to the operating table for further troubleshooting. Have ashop check it out for you. Thanks

Tv sound wont work

Make sure that all scarts and sockets are plugged in tightly. Try different inputs, try connecting a DVD player or another piece of equipment to the sockets in turn. Also, if you`ve got a sky box, remove the scart plugs one at a time and reconnect it immediately so that you know where you took it from. Check if there`s a switch on the back for external speakers, Make sure it`s switched to internal. Some of the TV`s have the switch for internal and external speakers in the menu`s. Make sure that any switches whether mechanical or electronic are switched to internal. Ian

No picture, sound ok

Rca has been known to have bad solder joints in the deflection circuits. Usually around the flyback and transformers.. check it over real good. Just be careful as you can still get shocked after the powers removed the capacitors and picture tube will hold a charge in them.
