What is the cost for the element and the micro box? Will I be able to install myself?

my oven shuts off during the process of baking. the make and model maytag or GE MMV6178AA I would like to know if it is the element or if it is the microprogramming control box is this very expensive? Is this something that I can replace myself?

The oven heats up then and bakes for maybe 10 min then continues to heat some but does not get bright red. if this is the element is this expensive and is this something that I can replace?

Hi,

By Shut Off, Do you mean Completely No Power?

If yes,you need to test for 120 volts at L1 and L2. If you have 120 volts at both L1 and L2 on the control board and the display is dead you need to replace the control board. If you don't have 120 volts to either on trace the wire down and see if it is getting pinched between some metal. when the oven gets hot the metal will expand and pinch the wire.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

The link to purchase the Control Board is :-

Make sure, it matches the part number engrossed on the Oven Control Board. Make sure, you need to test the control board before order that part.

I think you meant to say shuts off while Baking but you didnt post your make and model Number! Please let me know Brand Name and Model number it should be on back of Range or on side of oven door you may have element going bad or it could be in the microprogrmming control box.
