  • Step 1 Launch Outlook from your Start bar or via your desktop shortcut.
  • Step 2 Go to Tools, then Email Accounts and select "Add New Account." The wording may differ slightly, but the gist is the same. Choose the option that allows you to add a new email address. Click "Next."
  • Step 3 Choose HTTP as your server type and click "Next."
  • Step 4 Enter your name as you would like it to appear when your contacts receive email from you (in the Name box).
  • Step 5 Provide your Hotmail account information when prompted for email address and password. Click "Next" and then "Finish."
  • Install and Configure Outlook Connector
  • Step 1 Close out of Outlook if it's currently running. In fact, it's a good idea to close all running applications when installing new software.
  • Step 2 Confirm that your Hotmail account is a Windows Live account. If it's not, you can either open a new account or upgrade your existing account. You can do this by simply choosing the "Join Windows Live Hotmail" link that appears when you log in to your email account.
  • Step 3 Download Microsoft Office Outlook Connector from the Microsoft website (see Resources below).
  • Step 4 Run the file when it finishes downloading and follow the installation wizard to complete installation.
  • Step 5 Launch Outlook. The Outlook Connector will open a window prompting you to provide your account information (email address, password and name). Type all this information and hit "OK."
  • Step 6 Look for your Window Live Hotmail account in the navigation pane. The server settings should be configured for you. All you will have to do is configure any custom settings.

Download Microsoft Outlook Connector and Run.

Once setup is finished set your Incomming mail server as pop3.live.com and outgoing server as smtp.live.com, save the setting.

Thanks for joining Fixya.
Good Luck

You have mentioned that it is Outlook Express, if yes then you cannot setup Hotmail account(Free account). Hotmail no longer can be setup as POP account until is a subscribed account through Hotmail. If it is Outlook you are using then download and install Outlook Connector 12.1 which can also synchronize your contacts and calendar from the server as well as sub folders :

My canon lide 100 scanner will e mail scanned

The scan to e-mail uses your default mail product. As of June 2008, Outlook Express can not check a Hotmail account. If you have XP, Vista or Win7, you can download and install Windows Live Mail and use that instead. Since Hotmail is a Microsoft product, Live Mail should set up the account without a problem (both the incoming server and the out-going server); all you'll need to add is your full email address (name@hotmail.com) and password. Make your Hotmail account the default and Live Mail the default e-mail program and you should be good to go for sending e-mail via Hotmail.

If you want to continue with Outlook Express, there is no solution.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(Live Mail will ask if you want it to be the default program when you first launch it after installing (in my experience all mail programs do this). If you relaunch Outlook Express, it will ask the same question and you will need to reset the default program for mail. This can be done either as each program asks or through the Control Panel, Programs, Default Programs)

Am tring to set up my email on my new note book in out look express but dont seem to be able to come up with the log on page so am not able to do any thing like send an email can use email on my hotmail...

Outlook Express needs you to have an email account with your ISP, and your ISP should provide you with the setup items like Mail Servers. Once this isw done, you will have complete access to your email.

As an example, my ISP is Comcast and my mail servers are

mail.comcast.net to receive, and
smtp.comcast.net to send.

Your ISP will have their own servers, of course.

You will need to log in to these servers, using logins and passwords provided by your ISP. Outlook Express manages this as well.

Hi There, I have changed to a different computer and i cannot get my E-Mail through Outlook Express going. PLEASE can you help. Rosanna

Hi Rosanna,

If you have access to the other computer you can go to the Outlook Express (OE) menu - under Tools (I think) you will find the accounts option,

Open that and select your email acount and then select modify / Edit depends on your version.

Copy down the settings like pop3 server address and SMTP, your username and password and

then enter those details on the new computer's OE accounts section click on Add New Email Account

If you do not have access then try this.

Go to OE Tools->Accounts (may be under different menu)

Click add new Account
Enter the details it asks for
pop3 and SMTP servers are usually standardised
So if your email address is rosanna@here.com
pop3 will either be mail@here.com or pop3@here.com
the SMTP server will either be mail@here.com
or smtp@here.com

If you are connecting to hotmail then you will not get access to your email via OE anymore - you need to use Windows Live Mail or MS Outlook with the Outlook Mail Connector - available from MS.

I can not set up mail account of out look express my server smtp

Setting up Outlook Express, you need to know from your Internet Provider (ISP) or who host your email (e.g yahoo or hotmail) for the Incoming Mail Server(POP) and Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). This needs to be configured in Outlook Express before you to can check and receive your emails.

Connecting my email to outlook express

Hi
Outlook Express doesn't accept web based email anymore.

I recommend Outlook 2007. You will also need to install the outlook connector to be able to do it.

Right now Outlook supports Hotmail web email addresses only.

In Outlook click on TOOLS and then ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
Click on NEW and choose the Microsoft Exchange,POP3, IMAP or HTTP.
Then just follow the On-Screen Instructions.
Don't tick the box where it says Manually configure server settings

cheers
