Try opening google. If google is online, then your internet connection is OK. Then, when you know you have internet, keep trying until you get connected to te server. If you don't have Internet, this may have multiple causes. Post it as a separate problem.

All websites, including this one, sometimes need to upgrade or fix problems and then have to display messages like what your receiving, just leave it for a few hours as it says and wait.If you have a wireless enabled or internet enabled phone you can log in with that, as they are on a seperate connection and should work

Networking sites like all websites have downtime, to update, upgrade various portions of their site, usually these upgrades take only a few hours to self fix... I suggest you wait the couple of hours and try again :)
