Step 1
Inspect the paper trays to make sure they are not overloaded. To determine if this is the problem, do a test print with only one piece of paper loaded in the paper tray. (If this turns out to be the problem, keep the paper tray half-full in the future.)
*
Step 2
Check that the type of paper being used falls within the printer manufacturer's recommendations. For example, paper designed for ink-jet printers doesn't necessarily work well in laser printers. High-quality, bonded paper will cause paper jams in some printers; look for bonded paper that is "laser and ink-jet compatible."
*
Step 3
If someone has recently printed labels on this printer, check to see if a label has come unglued from a sheet and become stuck inside the printer.
*
Step 4
Check the gears and rollers for stuck shreds of torn paper from previous jams. Turn off the printer before you attempt to remove the bits of paper.
*
Step 5
If you have a laser printer, inspect the printer's paper rollers. They should be smooth but not shiny. Rollers that are cracked or glazed are a frequent cause of paper jams and should be replaced by a technician.
*
Step 6
If you have a laser printer, try cleaning the printer's paper rollers with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol (available at electronics shops or drugstores).
*
Step 7
Try changing the toner or ink cartridge.
*
Step 8
If you hear a clinking sound during printing, your printer probably has a broken gear and needs to be serviced by a technician.

There might be a number of reasons due to which your documents get stuck in a printer queue. Overloading and driver issues are the major reason behind this. As soon as you turn on my printer it already wants to print what i have printed previously how do i stop that from happening

You need to clear the print queue from the (any) workstation that is printing to it.

  • go to Control Panel/Printers
  • Open the printer in question
  • highlight any documents awaiting print
  • press 'delete'

The documents may not all completely delete until the printer is turned back on.

If this doesn't fix it then please reply before rating this answer as I can detail a manual method of clearing the queue, but I recommend using the above process first.

Please take the time to rate this answer.

Many Thanks Don.

Printing blocked by a document showing being deleted

Sounds like a stuck document is in the print queue. Try to clear the print queue first before sending another print job otherwise it will just accumulate in the queue. The steps below will help you clear the queue.

I can't cancel a document on my hp 6210, so it won't let me print. I shut down my system in the middle of printing yesterday and it won't work now. please help

Suggestion. Leave the printer OFF.

Power up the PC and when it is set to go, look at the bottom right side of the scree and see if there is a small printer icon. If there is, then double click on the icon.

This opens the print queue. With the print queue, highlight the print job that is causing the problem and then cancel it.

My printer HP PSC1 1402it just says pending how can i get it to work?

On the bottom right of your screen you should see a printer icon. Right click on it and then display the Print Queue. Make sure that the Print Queue is not in hold or has a job still spooling.

If the Queue is help, release it. If there is a job spooling, go to the document header and kill the job.

Please let me know if this helped you.

How do I get the printer to print

Click on the printer icon at the bottom right of the screen. It should bring you to the print queue.

Make sure that the print queue has been released. Sometimes the queue will be in a "Hold" status.

You can also release each print job by clicking on the job and directing the queue to send the job to the printer.

I want to print new page of printing printer keeps churning out prvious printing instrctions i am 78yrs old still learning

Hi,

What you need to do is clear out the printing "QUEUE".

.
Clearing the Print Queue in Windows
The printer is one of the slowest devices in a computer system. If you had to wait for it to print your document before you could resume writing, you would quickly go back to using a typewriter. To eliminate the delay, Windows reserves a portion of memory for something called a “print queue” (or spooler). The queue works on a first-in first-out basis. You can continue to use the computer and send jobs to the spooler as it feeds a steady stream of data to the printer.
Print queues are nice, except when something happens in the printer to cause it to stop functioning. Sometimes it is just a paper jam and sometimes it is a bit more serious. If you need to cancel the jobs in the print queue, you can simply double-click the printer icon (in the system tray down by the clock) and open the print queue. Depending upon the length of your document and how many documents are waiting to print, the printer icon may appear briefly or for a sustained period. (Note: This would be a good time to remove the paper from the printer before continuing.) If the icon is not there, you can manually open the queue.
Open the Print Queue
  • Windows 98 - click Start, Settings, Printers
  • Windows XP - click Start, Printers and Faxes
or click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
  • Windows Vista - Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Printers
Double-click to open the appropriate printer's queue. The Print dialog box will open. Here you will see a list of all of the jobs waiting to print, along with the status of each job. The first print job is at the top of the list.
To cancel a document in the list, right-click it and select Cancel Printing. Most often, it is better to cancel all of the jobs and then resend the documents to the printer.
Cancel All Documents
  • Windows 98 - click Printer on the menu, select “Purge Print Documents”
  • Windows XP - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
  • Windows Vista - click Printer on the menu, select “Cancel All Documents”
Please note that you must have Administrative rights in Windows XP and Vista to cancel print jobs. If you are the only user, you automatically have administrative rights. If you are on a multi-user computer, you must be an administrator. If are on a network and get a message saying that you do not have Administrative rights, find someone who does.
Under normal circumstances, printing documents are cancelled and will disappear from the queue. If one or more do not disappear, shutdown the computer and restart. When shutting down, you may get a message warning you that your print jobs will be lost if you continue. Tell Windows to shutdown anyway. When you restart, Windows may tell you that you have print jobs waiting. Tell Windows to delete them.
Before you resume work, open the Print Queue from the Start menu. You should find the queue empty. If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista and the queue is not empty, you will be unable to print. Before trashing your computer, you can try to clear the queue using a secret Windows command.
Click Start, Run, and type “Net Stop Spooler” (without the quotes). Then press Enter. Shutdown the computer and restart. The print jobs should be removed. If they are not, shut down the computer again, take a deep breath, and then go for a long walk. The queue should be clear when you return. Note that you must restart the computer for your printers to resume normal operation.

This should solve your problem, Let me know how it works for you..

Unable to stop printer from printing documents

The actual folder in Windows where spooled documents are stored just before printing is: C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS. I?ve never had print jobs hanging around after the print queue has been deleted but if you clear out anything in this folder that should take care of it. Let us know how things work out and please don?t forget to rate this posting.
