Prevention of blank image (modifying the shape of the laser shutter and applying grease to the laser shutter arm)
Detail:
<Symptom>
Since the laser shutter [1] is not opened when the toner cartridge is inserted into the machine, a blank image is output in

<Cause>
When the toner cartridge is inserted, the laser shutter arm [2] pushes down on the laser shutter [1]. In case that the arm has

preventing the shutter from being opened.

c. Changing the shape of the laser shutter arm and applying grease to it.

[A] Old type [2] View of the new shape of rib
[B] New type [3] View of the arm from which the rib is removed
d. Discontinuing application of grease to the laser shutter arm.
It was confirmed that the new shape of the laser shutter and laser shutter arm do not need lubrication by grease for normal
operation. From this, application of grease is discontinued.
Service Work:
When the foregoing symptom occurs, replace the laser shutter with the new type. In addition, remove the laser shutter arm
and apply a rice-grain sized amount of grease (PERMALUB G No. 2); about 30mg) evenly to the area [1] shown in P-4.
As for a machine having one of the serial numbers listed in “Affected Machines” below as “machines for which the shape
change of the laser shutter is carried out”, only application of grease is required: there is no need to replace the laser
shutter arm because the new type shutter has already been mounted onto them.
When replacing with the new type of laser shutter arm, there is no need to apply grease to it.

My Camera's shutter button is insanely hard to push down.

Hello codip426,

I had a similar problem with my FZ7 a few days back after a hectic day of shooting. However, one of my cursor buttons at the back was affected. So this solution may or may not work for you. But try it since opening the camera should be the last(est!) resort.

Take a very very slim steel needle, like the ones used for insulin injectors. They are far slimmer than paper pins or staples and offer a good grip required for this operation. You can find one at a medical store. Ask for insulin pen needles.

Gently, avoiding making scratches, insert it into the space between the shutter and the zoom control lever. Run this needle inside that space around the shutter, 360 degrees. Do it gently and with even force. If you meet any resistance try to dislodge it gently.

The problem that you have usually occurs when the button is out of its housing. The needle trick usually fixes it.

I hope it works for you.

Pentax ME SLR Camera

Push the small white button down and turn the select to B or Flash mode the shutter should fire at 1/60th sec. in flash mode. As long as you want in B mode. Turn select to A
put lens on and check shutter speed in finder. Rotate F stop on lens and bring shutter speed to over 1/100 sec. push shutter button, it should fire at the speed you selected.
If not check battery cap and contacts in bat. holder, clean with pencil eraser if needed. Be careful with contacts in holder.
If it still locks up remove lens and rotate to F/16 push metal pin in and check operation of diaphragm, it should be smooth and pin return quickly.
If the shutter still locks in auto that's about it---- no parts are available

Canon G3 irresponsive Shutter & non-see through viewfinder

optical view finder. this seams odd as it is only a lens. Was the camera dropped at some point? that may explain both issues. if not then I need to know a little more prior to offering an opinion.
