Question about Microwave Ovens

Jennair Duel Fuel Gemini Range JDR8895ACS The convection Roast option provides no heat (power to the element?) Everything else, including convection bake works fine. Is this an electronic problem? the unit was purchased 1/20/08

Hey thanks for attempting a solution. The thing is your solutions imply manual dials/ clock /fuses etc. Its all electronic. Check out the model and get back to me with a solution relating to the electronic controls. (the same heating element is used for roasting and baking but only works when the baking option is selected) or is it the same element? Maybe its the broiling element?

Reasonably deductive. Helped me to isolate the problem myself

Will not heat: Things to check- The screw in fuses, they are usually the 30 amp fuses for the oven. Next is the clock assembly, often these clocks will have the words "push for manual" or "turn for manual", this will put the clock back into the normal operating mode rather than the automatic mode. Next, you may have to remove the power and check for any burnt wires. If all checks ok, you will have to test the selector switch and oven control.
if its temprature problem :--
Oven temp problems: Temperature is too low possible trouble makers, blown oven fuse, bake element is out, burnt wire, oven probe clips, oven temp control, oven temp sensor.
Temperature is too high in the oven possible trouble makers, oven temp control, oven relay ( if used ), oven probe clips, oven temp sensor, shorted wire.
These oven probe clips often rust off and the oven temp probe hangs down, or touches the oven wall giving false temperature readings to the oven control.
Element stays on high only:
This is usually a contact inside the switch that has stuck together. Because this contact will not open, the element stays on high heat all the time = new switch time.
Checking a range element :
With the element removed from the range, check across the terminals of the element for continuity. Depending on the manufacturer of the element, you will normally read between 19 ohms and 115 ohms, with an ohm meter. To see if the element is grounded, read between each side of the element terminals to the sheath of the element. If you read continuity, the element is grounded and should be replaced.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

How to replace heating element on microwave convection oven jvm1790 sk01.

At my Web site here, I have a video showing you how to remove a typical over the range microwave's grille and control panel assembly in about 5 minutes.

Then you can find and refer to the technical sheet for this model found hidden behind the controller or grille or get it online here.

Next, you'll need to take the oven down from its mount. The installation instructions are a must, and if for some reason you don't still have them, you can download them here.

You can buy GE parts and find helpful exploded views and parts lists by entering your full model number here.

On exploded view diagram 5, "Interior Parts (1) Parts" shows the convection parts, including the heating element, here called a "heater sheath" at ref. # 3019. It is part number WB44X10046 and again, you can get it from the Pros here.

If you have other questions, please e-mail me here with your full model number as shown on the tag in or on the oven, and your detailed symptoms.

Oven will not heat

it most likely is the thermostat which is in back it unplugs and replace. you can check with ohm meter. the other thing is the heating element which is the thick wire looking thing on the bottom it lifts up and unplugs to replace. You can check with ohm meter check resentence if nether is bad it has to be the switch on top the thing you turn to make everything go on or off easy unplug unfashion and replace. [ if no resistance on element or thermostat that is the problem then you know which one to replace ]

7 yr old unit emitting burning smell. Everything still works. Is it worth trying to get repaired or just buy a new one.

is the burning smell just when you use the convection oven or when you use the microwave , reason I ask is that if its only coming from the convection oven then chances are you have something melted on the heat elements , this can be cleaned off with a dry brillo pad

I need the manual of my haas microwave oven HMW 43 W I want to know can i bake in my oven or not

m/w do not bake they heat up water molecules in the items that you put in them . unless it is a m/w, convection oven that has a heating element and a convection fan in addition to m/w components in it usually a metal fan visible protruding from back of inside the cavity. also m/w , convection ovens are ether over the range or together with convection oven in the wall combos and cost quite a bit more then counter top. $250 +

I bought a microwave at an aution. No owner manual Kenmore model #970-86116-001. It has an element in the top and has buttons that say microwave, convection, convection roast etc. There is no glass plate at...

If you press "convection" the oven works just like a regular oven except that the element is on top. In "microwave" it works like a microwave oven. All you have to do is decide which mode you want to use and then punch in the time and hit "start". The glass plate is not really a necessity as long as you make sure there is a load in the oven when you are "microwaving".

Manufactured in 02, thi shas been a great unit

Sparks during convection heating? That may be a shorting convection heating element.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

If you still need help, to allow us to help you effectively (at no charge), please post a NEW problem to FixYa, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit as well as repeating your symptoms in detail.

Also, let us know where she saw the sparking and if the poor heating is in convection mode or microwave mode or both.
