Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Router

3 Answers

Wireless router working fine, randomly stopped working.

The power, internet, 1 2 3 and 4 LED's all stay lit solid, no activity. I've tried to reset it several times with no luck. The lights return the same way after unplugging it and plugging it back in.

What should I do>

    That didn't work.

I am having the same problem. Have tried the reset button multiple times, also power off and on, unplugging and re-plugging all involved cables. I am starting to give up hope. Have only had the Dlink router for 6 months. This happened suddently, there was no rhyme or reason to it.

I'm having the same issue. The same lights are lit on my router, and it seems that I am constantly unplugging it jsut to get a few seconds of conectivity. I'll try resetting the router via the reset button on the back.

Worked fine until power was unplugged ... then when powered up seems to go through initialization, but ultimately orange internet signal light does not come on and no access to Internet. Tried resetting numerous times, letting it sit, etc. Nothing.

Best solution is no solution.

I've been having the same problem for a while now. Even replaced the router with a newer WBR-2310. Same issues after 4 months.

I have done all that I could and even reported it to D-Link without results.

Seems to be a common occurrence.

I have two machines hard wired and one on wireless. I use VPN for work.

It's a real pain to get disconnected in the middle of doing remote application support.

    I finally got a reply from D-Link.

I was provided a ticket number and asked to contact their techs which I did. They identified that my firmware was out of date and assisted me with the upgrade.

It seems that their book instructions, which I h ad followed before, were not as thorough as they should have been.

I upgraded the router firmware and the problem went away.

You are not really reseting the wireless by shutting it off or unplugging it to reset it there is a little hole in the back of the divise stick a needle or a pen tip in the hole and hold it for 3 to 5 seconds then at the same time unplug the power ffrom the back then plug back in and start installation over again it worked for me good luck

My Netgear WPN824 wireless router stopped working. With the exception of the internet LED (which doesn't come on at all), all of the lights are blue and doing sort of a slow, pulsating blink. No m

The RESET button is for resetting the wireless section of the router and does not effect the Internet connection.
It looks like the wireless access is faulty especially when you cannot reset and configure the wireless settings.
Try powering off the Netgear for 10 mins the connect the power again.
If you still cannot RESET the Netgear then it is faulty and you need a new wireless router.

WHAT LIGHTS ON LINKSYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BLINKING

Note that incoming traffic will cause the WAN (or Internet) light to blink even if it is 'probe' traffic trying to break in to your network. Such traffic is to be expected and is the reason you have firewall functionality in your gateway router.

On the inside, there is a bit of traffic on any LAN when the computers are turned on. Messages generated by the router itself are used to find computers and printers for a lot of different legitimate reasons.

The first thing you should do is a proper 'powercycle' for all of your internet equipment.

To do this:

1) Unplug the power to your modem and your router, and power off your computer.
2) Wait a full minute.
3) Plug the power back in to JUST the modem.
4) Wait some more - for the modem to fully connect to your ISP, and the lights to indicate. If you're not sure, just wait about 2-3 minutes.
5) Plug the power back into the router.
6) Wait another minute or two for the router to finish connecting.
7) Then turn the computer back on.

You can bypass the computer turning on and off if you can repair your wireless connection.

If this doesn't work, there is a pinhole sized reset button on the router itself that you will need a toothpick or somesuch to press - press and hold the button for 5 seconds, and then try the steps above again. If you do this, the network id and password will be reset to the default, just like it was when you bought it.

No wireless connection for laptop. Linksys router - model #wrt160n v2

you can run a direct line to that router and go to the cisco web site and get the information you need to run that router. its a pdf format and is 2.56 Meg. Try this

SecureEasySetup (Orange/White) The Cisco logo is the Router's SecureEasySetup button. It

lights up and will stay orange when the Router is powered on. The color orange indicates that

the Router is not using the SecureEasySetup feature, while the color white indicates that the

Router is using the SecureEasySetup feature. When the Router enters SecureEasySetup

mode, the Cisco logo will turn white and start flashing. After the Router has generated

the SSID and WPA Personal key, the Cisco logo will stop flashing and stay white.

To clear the SSID and WPA Personal key, press and hold down the Cisco logo for five seconds.

The Cisco logo will flash slowly as the Router resets itself. The Cisco logo will turn orange to

indicate a successful reset.NOTE: SecureEasySetup is a feature that makes

it easy to set up your wireless network. If you have SecureEasySetup devices, run the Router's

Setup Wizard CD-ROM and follow the onscreen instructions to use SecureEasySetup.

Power (Green) The Power LED lights up and will stay on while the Router is powered

on. When the Router goes through its selfdiagnostic mode during every boot-up, this

LED will flash. When the diagnostic is complete, the LED will be solidly lit.

DMZ (Green) The DMZ LED indicates when the DMZ function is being used. This LED will

remain lit as long as DMZ is enabled. WLAN (Green) The WLAN LED lights up when

the wireless feature is enabled. If the LED is flashing, the Router is actively sending or

receiving data over the network. 1, 2, 3, 4 (Green) These numbered LEDs, corresponding with the numbered ports on the Router's back panel, serve two purposes. If the LED is continuously lit, the Router is successfully connected to a device through that port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over that port.

Internet (Green) The Internet LED lights up when there is a connection made through the

Internet port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over the Internet port.

Good luck

Router not responding at all

Refer to the instruction booklet about how to re-initialize (re-set) the router. You will then have to re-enter all the setups.

If it does not re-initialize, then it is internaly defective.

Hey Raj - Unplug your modem and router. After 60 seconds plug your modem back in. When the lights return to normal (except the activity light) , plug your router back in. Give it 10 seconds and try it. If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks.
